hi all

i am looking at getting a new servo for my b4 and was just wondering what other people are using in there 2wd's

Blue bird 617 ;) they work well, Millzy came 3rd on the weekend with one.

Sanwa ERG. Still the best servo's around.

The hitec servo's are also good considering their price. I use a 945MG in my 4WD. I'm not so keen on bluebird servo's. I have one as a spare servo but it sound and looks dodgy to me, especially compared to the sanwa or Hitec.

Just got a Futaba S3010, not blindingly fast speed or super high torque but it does the job well for me and for 19 nicker it aint a bad price

You had your servo's yet Ian?

Not yet, just going off millzys experience and from what ive seen of it.

I use Airtronics 94360 6v servos with heatsink in both 2 & 4wd cars.
I think the Sanwa version is Hyper ERG-VRX.

I think I have a 2123 in mine also, I prefer a 6v servo though since i find the extra wire a bit messy. Still, I bought it when I started racing over 4 years ago and its still going strong.

Question on FET servo`s

I've only raced with budget servo`s before in a different class.

I`m now building a buggy and want a good servo !
I`ve managed to obtain a LRP Quantum2 Competition ESC but the blue FET servo wire has been cut too short to use.

Not knowing about FET servo`s
1. What do they do special over standard servo`s ?
2. Can you run one without the FET wire.
3. Is it worth me trying to open up the esc and replacing the wire.

6V runs just off the receiver, so three grouped wires. 7.2 runs off the receiver and the separate FET lead into the speedo, either on the + tag or the FET lead coming from the speedo (not all speedos have this)
7.2 will generally give you more torque and speed.

Do NOT open the speedo, just run the FET lead directly off the positive solder post, or send it back to have the blue lead replaced. I always run off the + post though, no matter if i have a separate lead or not.

From your comments I`m quite happy I still have a choice of what type of servo I can go for.

I would'nt have a problem going off of the positive terminal.

I,ve got a KO 2123 servo and have just bought a Trickbits fet servo choke for it.

If this is a Diode isn`t there one way round it needs to be soldered to work ?

A choke is an inductive component and therefore has no polarity!

yes its an inductor coil the measurement is in henrys;)
