anyone converted a TC into a 4wd buggy

I have an old Xray T2'008 TC gathering dust and was gonna try 4wd racing. I was wondering if anyone here has ever converted a TC into a 4wd buggy. It's not completely foolish, because the Losi XXX4 and XX4 were both a buggy and a TC.

I know my conversion won't have a slipper, but I was wondering the following:
1. which arms to get
2. which driveshafts

I want to keep the cost down because otherwise I will just buy a buggy instead

Its probably sound advice. You'd need a arms, drive shafts, new shocks, some wing mounting stuff and new bodyshell. Likely a few other things. Second hand would no doubt cost similar, maybe less.

Was awesome! My mate brought one many years ago and I had a blast, was so quick with an insane amount of traction!

Where did he bring it from?

It was a one man business in the US. I had some conversations with him about a few things.

TBH, similar to this came up the other week with converting a DEX210 into a DESC210.
Once you add up all the bits (arms, shock parts, wheels, hubs, driveshafts etc) you are looking at the price of a half way decent new car, so far more practical to sell the TC and buy new. Unless the TC is in a right state and unsellable.

I remember he imported it from the US. Cost him a fair bit and didn't run it an awful lot. I think at the same time there was a couple of guys in Europe making their own version. I forget the name of this one.

Here are a few pictures of the Mako I designed nearly a decade ago .. note the weight forward bias and proper dual split slipper .... ;)

wasn't the original BJ4 from Jconcepts the tc3 drive train, chassis with some Jconcept parts and some B4 parts?

dodgydiy 20-11-2013 10:10 PM

just put rally blocks and longer shocks on it and have fun! i did my own conversion on a tc3 years ago using b3 and yokomo parts, just because i could and had the bits lying around, only handled with narrow tyres all round and was very edgy, mainly due to being too short. unless you want to spend lots on it or have the parts lying around i would leave it. with the style of suspension mounts on the xray it would be easy to swap suspension, might be a bit of work finding something the right length though.
