New to 1/10 buggy

Hi guys,

I recently asked on the facebook page about getting a 1/10 buggy, thanks for your suggestions.

I have now sorted myself out with everything apart from a LiPo charger which I will get today.

So my set up is:

Schumacher Cougar SV
Etronix Photon 2.0 ESC
Etronix Photon 12t 3300kv

All bought second had so all in for everything I have managed to do it for £170. I am sure the motor and esc could do with upgrading at some point but just to get me started I figured this would serve me well.

I should be coming down on the 30th November for my first race, ever, it will be easy to spot me anyway, the one at the back crashing all the time!

A good choice of car, Timmy.
The trackside shop Moss Models stock most commonly needed spared for them, and he runs one as well.
Any of the common "4 button" chargers will be fine. If you're local to me (Acomb) you can always borrow my spare one... I won't be there on the 30th, but will be on the 23rd and the 7th.

Its a 2011 so not sure how good it is? I have now sorted a balance charger from ebay, an iMax B6 but thanks for the kind offer. Typically how many sets of lipo's do people get through in a race evening, should I have 2?

I got away with using 1 for a year or so, but 2 makes it easier. B6 is a good choice.

Good to know, will invest in a second one then, cheers.

i did manage one night on 1 battery without charging 4 rounds and a final by the end of the final it was a lot slower i take two batteries (overlander 5000) and do the night on them i dont take a charger ive never run the batteries low enough to ned a charger and i am running an ansmann 12 turn motor

I always topped mine up between rounds. Usually took about 20mins at 5amps so plenty of time.

To Mount the club transponder do I need anything in particular?

Col 23-11-2013 03:45 PM

Nope. It requires a hole drilling in your shell or wing to the correct size, and is secured with a big clip.
The club has a reamer to get a nice neat hole, and a clip can be supplied with the transponder.

Excellent. Can't wait till next week now. Car is all ready and raring to go. Tried it on the drive and it had no grip at all, quite funny. The tried it on the carpet in the house and it took off!
