lap timing system

Hi there
I am looking for a personal lap timing system to use when practicing that will fit on my Durango DEX210. does anyone know of and has used a system that is not going to break the bank.

They are all going to break the bank

DCD works well even with iphone/ipad if you like those

Theres a few apps available that might at least give you a reasonable idea of your lap times. Most want you to 'tap' or 'nudge' the phone to register a lap.

I thought about having a 'racing plank' if you will?
Locate the phone securely on the plank and hopefully the car rattling across should register your lap/time ?

I bought a 'toy' lapcounter off Ebay the other day, thinking to use that.
It does start countdown, with lights and records times etc. Now this is supposed to be for smaller cars, so its not that big.

On examination the part the connects both sides of the timer is simple cover for a four track connection, it should be easy enough to remove that and make something slightly longer to accomodate a buggy?

BTW is was from Cash Generators in Ayr and they have a couple on offer.
