very nice mate, like those slow shutter speeds in the dark hall too :)

Im impressed with them mate. If you have photo editing software crop the images down to size more up close to the cars, itl make the final finish more 'pro'.

jimmy you should know the buggy in mid air you have taken quite a few shots of his cars in the past (note the OOPLE stickers on the side)

ack, Ireally need my D50 setting up, in manual mode it just takes a picture which is completetly black? Maybe Jimmy can set-it up this saturday?:D

i found some of jimmys posts and tips are very usefull also read his tutorial on rc pics and read what it says below the pics (apperature/shutter) its easy to pic up and play until you get the desired results. practice makes perfect

Do you need a fast shutter speed or a slow shutter speed for taking pics of cars. I aint got a cam like jimmy's but its a good digi cam its a casio QV-R61. Ive taken pics of cars before on the move but my problem is i always seem to wither miss them or you can only see half of them. Any tips people.

The problem is shutter lag ashley. basically your camera takes a photo a split second after you press the shutter release.
SLR Cameras tend to have a very small lag, but non-slr cameras tend to have much longer lags which make it hard to predict.

The best way I found when I had a similar camera was to pan - but keep on panning and following the car AFTER you think you took the photo.

So does that mean just take lots of photo's continuasly then just follow the car i can set my camera up like that i think its time for some photo taking 2night.

Here is one i took earlier in the year also i can never seem to get them in focas any advise i love taking photo's of cars while there going it just im dissapointed with the end result.

i use pre focusing. basically focus on one spot you know the car will pass and lock the focus on that point when the car passes that point follow it and take he shot.

my happy snapper just decided to die on me so i'm looking at getting a decent slr, i was looking at the d50 but notice that a lot of people use the d70. what difference is their between the two? is it worth spending that bit extra?

i generally love photography and would like to take better shots than with just a snapper.

is the d70 a good camera from the box or is it worth buying other bits for it?

I prefer the D70 but im not sure the cost difference is worth it for you or not, thats up to you. The output quality of the two is the same in most cases, its just how they handle thats the main difference - and thats not much. Things like the remote flash firing you might never use, but my friend with a D50 was jealous when he saw what I could do with his new flash.

The 'kit' 18-70mm AFS lens with the d70 is excellent, the reach isnt amazing but its OK.. Don't think you really need any accessories as such, a memory cars of course (the d50 and d70 use different types of card)
