well ive recently got hold of an rc car ive been looking for for a very long time,
after taking it to my local club to show it off I was supprised how few people knew what it was.

Ahhh a YRF2 Special.... I was bidding on this one too, but it went over what I could justify/afford:D

Nice to see some better pics - it looks to be in great shape - & is that chassis protection film on there?

yeah it has a protection film on so happy ive got it, its in really good shape, looking forward to running it at some point soon and testing out the legendary handeling

I have never been in the opportunity to see one in real life, in action or to drive one... but I'm sure you'll like it a lot :) Driving any FWD car feels weird, but in my experience it's so much fun and a refreshing change from cars that tend to fight every of your commands when you really push them.

Would definately like to see a video competing against other RWD cars.

PS: I really dont know parts availability on that car, but I recomend CAD drawing all those CF parts in case of a crash, then you can always make more.

Fibrelyte I believe may do some chassis parts.

Fibre lite is round the corner from me so getting parts is no problem. A friend has just got a tamiya that's also fwd from a similar era and this looks mental compared to it. It's gonna be interesting how it runs with the modified tc's at my club since it was banned when it was out for been faster than a 4wd lol

The parts you break aren't the carbon parts, it's usually the normal front suspension parts.
The YF2 being banned is a bit of an urban myth, by the time they got around to creating rules for the class the YF2s time had gone. The only advantage it had against 4wd touring cars was the low weight, which meant it stopped being competitive as soon as the minimum weight rule came along. I raced against them BITD and they were competitive in the hands of a good driver who had learnt how to drive them, to keep the speed up through the corners, but 4wds always left them for dead under acceleration.
We never ran a fwd class in the UK, but the YF2 would have been good in that considering it's only opposition was the much heavier Tamiya FF01 chassis, a fwd version of the TA01.

They do handle really well, way better than you might expect looking at the somewhat different chassis. You do need to change your driving style to match the chassis, letting the chassis roll through the corners, but you do get a great deal of satisfaction when you get the technique right.
