Race control issues

There is a potential race control problem coming and I'm looking to the clubs members to see if anyone has a suitable solution.

Basically my wifes car has died (head gasket probably but not sure) and so we are down to one car. Thats not a problem at all as we now both work at the same school, so we only really need one car all week - except for Sunday's.

In the past I'd go racing on Sunday, and my wife would take the kids to Asda for the weekly shop. We are far too busy in the week for shopping, and Saturday is the only day we get as a family so we'd rather not go then. But clearly its a lot of money to buy, tax, MOT and insure a car just to use for a trip to the supermarket.

To make matters worse, I live in Wigan and all the race control gear is at my house between races. That means if she needs the car, not only can't I race, but unless someone fancies a long round trip nobody else can run race control either.

I'm fine with continuing to run race control - but I'm not sure I can guarantee I can make every meeting so I really need someone who can, is local to the track and is willing to look after the timing gear. I can train them as a back-up race controller if they want but its not really essential.

Failing that someone who can give me a lift each week so I can leave my wife the car!

Si I would have picked you up no probs as I live in horwich but I am over in little lever tonight so would be struggling

johnnygibbon 07-09-2013 10:45 PM

so do you need a lift tomoro dude ?

Si Coe 07-09-2013 11:24 PM

I'm fine for this week, but only by spending our whole Saturday shopping, which is why I'd rather not have to repeat it too often...

Si

Are we using the new timing software yet?

No.
I've not managed to successfully transfer the database, and I've not been to Southport either. That means each meeting I have the choice of BBK that I know and has a database or RC Timing which I don't and doesn't.

Sponsors banner

Gents, can we please ensure the sponsors banners are out and put up for the championship round next Sunday.

I'm away so not able to get down. Best of luck to all racing and hope the weather stays ok.

The next round isn't until next weekend is it?. That's what the calender says, or has the date changed?.

birdy 14-09-2013 11:18 AM

Whilst the meeting is a championship round, BMRCC will always welcome drivers new or old to race. So the answer is a YES.

Brilliant me and my mate will be down then,

On the race control I would have loved to help out n store the stuff, only being 4 miles awAy from the track is Handy, but as I spend 8 weeks away in the middle of summer n many weekend's away in spring, I wouldn't be available for quite a few races missed 9 this year,

Lee1972 15-09-2013 09:38 AM

Si, do the ASDA shop online and get it delivered for about a fiver, take the wife's car, sorted.

Si Coe 15-09-2013 09:57 AM

That sorts the groceries, but doesn't help with car hunting, child herding or other family occasions.

Speaking of which: My wife and her friend have booked for both familys to go on a Day out with Thomas (my eldest is a big fan) but the Saturday is all sold out so they got Sunday tickets. Thats Sunday the 6th, the next normal club meeting - you will need a race controller for that day. Whoever does it can collect the gear from me on the 22nd at the Championship round.

It was the club champs last week wasn't it?....

Cremegg 15-09-2013 09:51 PM

It's every 2 week and on the calendar it says champ round
