Dirt finding it's way into SV2 Spur gear

I race my SV2 exclusively on dirt and have been having problems with grains of sand getting trapped in the spur gear damaging my pinions and the spur. Does anyone else here have that problem and is there a solution to this?

yes
I made a new motor plate and then used the Durango spur pinion cover.

Wow. Great tip, Carb. Thanks!

Carb,
Will the durango cover fit over the stock sv2 motor plate?

I'm also running the SV2 on dirt and never had that problem.. Just make sure that there's a tight fit where the bodyshell meets the gear cover so no dirt "falls" into the gears as the gearcover doesn't cover the pinion.

A more simple solution than making a new motorplate is just to glue a bit of an old foam on the inside of the bodyshell so no dirt can fall between the shell and the cover..

I had to remove the gear cover and clean out my gears plus remove my undertray after every heat and main to clear out the bits of sand to reduce the chances of stuff getting between the gears.

The foam idea is pretty good idea too. I'll give it a go. I wish Schumacher would make an option part for dirt applications. In the short time that i have been running this car, i already had to change out a spur gear. Luck of the draw i guess...
