SP or not SP that is the question

Hello peeps,

I'm in the market for a new ESC for my 1/10th buggy.

I'm attracted to the SP reventon pro becasue of the price (£82) but its seems people are having lots of trouble with their SP esc's.

Is it worth getting one or should I look at another manufacturer??

If so any reccomendations, bearing in my I don't want to pay a fortune!

Although I've never owned a SP Reventon from what Ife seen at our club I would avoid them. For the £90 mark you could get a HW V2.1 from Giant Shark, you can find them here;

These are still good and also seem reliable.

ESC

People tend to stick with what other people run at their club as it makes basic setup and tuning easy, somebody will have a good set of basic settings for you to use.

From what I have seen over the years there is one ESC that people tend to come back to time after time after trying the next new thing !

Tekin RS Pro. Job done !

From what I understand, the FIRST release of these escs are the ones with the problems.

I had to buy one of these at the oOple race after my old esc finally gave up the ghost. i was dubious at first because of the low price tag, but it has been absolutely brilliant. A bit smoother and better delivery than the old GT2.

So far so good.

If you're after a Reventon, make sure it's the pro not the R. There were "issues" with the first batch R, but as far as I'm aware there have been no problems with the pro. Mine has been faultless for nearly a year in my 410.

Thanks for the info guys.

This will also be going in my 410v3.

What motor do you run Col?

Strictly indoors, my bus.
Runs a V3 10.5 with lots of boost and timing.

I've got two SP Rev Pro's
One in my Schumacher SX3 with a SP V3.0 6.5
The other in a Schumacher SV2 with a SP V3.0 7.5 & 8.5

I bought them when they were first released over a year ago, never had an issue with either esc in either car !!

You got an images of the install? Thinking of possibly moving mine from the 210 to the 410, but want to know how much *spare* space there is. (Would like to try and shoehorn the bluetooth doofer in there too....... a big ask i know!)

Not alot of room - the receiver is all but touching the steering, but this was the best solution we could find.
It should be noted that I didn't do this install. I just crash it.

mattr 05-09-2013 08:52 PM

I have to crash my own. ;)

Cheers.
