dex210 pinion gear help
 

Hi, I am building a 210 and am wondering what number of teeth pinion I should get? Also should I use aluminium or steel? I will be running on a medium sized astro/grass track.

What motor/spur?

13.5t motor, standard 87t spur.

it works out about a 29/30/31 but you can't get anything more than at max a 26 in there. You will have to look at getting a smaller spur, about a 78-81 ish then a 25-30 will fit, or look at getting a quicker motor depending on the esc you have

Stock gearing on the RTR (with a 13.5t motor) is 29/81, so as onekiwi says, quite possibly time for a new spur! If you are ordering a pinion anyway, its not going to hurt to order a spur too.

FWIW, i use hardened aluminium and steel pinions fairly interchangeably, the steel ones last longer. But seem to wear the spur quicker (especially if you get dirt in there).

Depends if you are frequent pinion/spur swapper or not as to which you go for.
Neither are *bad*. Just different.
