Looks great, xfactor! You could make it look even better by adding a Vega Gen3 conversion!

Shame the spring retainers are a different shade of blue :(

Well done Xfactor! Very neat build and wiring. Is that a shorty pack with the receiver positioned under the rear bulkhead?

Thinking I might order the BB's for my 501X and 201+Exotec 8mm. But I'm very tempted to get the XR! I might wait until the mid mount conversion is available a build a mid mount XR from scratch??? Thus I'll have a rear motor and mid motor to play with.

As the tracks over here are sugared more and more, grip is no loner an issue on our clay tracks and mid mount appears to be where the trend is going.:thumbsup:

Yes shortie pack with receiver and transponder at rear under bulkhead.I did this as not to kink the wires off the speedo and gain more air around the speedo by fitting the speedo on the battery bar due to no fan.

That looks even more like a Vega than I thought! That said, it does look pretty neat, I wasn't expecting Tamiya to sell the conversion with an alu gearbox. I take it Tamiya anodized the casing, or did you have it done yourself? :)

Wow, looks nice! Where did you source the rear conversion from? Stellamodels hasn't released them yet.

The conversion kit have arrived in Denmark, together with the new racing steering set :-)

The gearbox are blue from Tamiya, it is standard :-) :)

Nice Vega copy, though the Vega conversion looks better.

do they ship international? if so do they have a website???

True, gearbox looks very similar to Vega. Would´nt say copy, but very similar.

Chassi looks very similar to 22.
Front similar to B4.

But most buggies have borrowed ideas and design from other models.

Would very much like to see some more "twists" from Tamiya.
But performance is of course the most important thing with TRF cars.

That's only down to the badly shaped sidepods - if they would merge into the front bulkead and motor guard/rear bulkhead to make a smooth tub shape it would look better than the Vega :)

Side guards were designed not to connect to the front nose piece or the rear bulkhead to aid in flex-tuning. :)

Imo it is just to cut costs. They could easily aid flex with bigger sidepods, look at the Xray XB4: It has a whole tub you can tighten onto the car in many configurations to adjust flex. So simply said, they could connect the sidepod in the front and rear, and add extra holes throughout the length of the sidepod to adjust rigidity (even specifically to a certain area of the car)...

So nice that the feature is on there, and I understand the TRF201's small market share doesn't give the best bargaining position to the director's board to increase the ambition of the project to a new kit, moulded sidepods or whatever... but in all honesty with Tamiya's rich history of attention to detail, they should know better :)

TRF Cars don't have a big market share (Globally) because they don't have a top ten USA driver. Lee Martin is good and certainly a contender for top 10 at the worlds, but they need a good USA based driver to mix up the AE, TLR and Kyosho drivers. Tamiya is a big company and makes many model products, so budget shouldn't be an issue. The cars have what it takes, all they need a US based driver to take them there! Kyosho have.

some pics of my TRF201XR. It is not finished yet because I am thinking about the saddle LiPos position before the soldering process. My local track is very similar than the Valladolid Euros 2013. What do you think? "stick" position would work better than "saddle" (I have the #54440 TRF201 Suspension Weight Block (5-Deg.)).

Johnny Pedersen, I want the new alu steering set, where did you buy it?

Taomo, i tried saddle configuration without any extra weight and it felt very nose heavy on clay. then again there was lot of turf lookin parts in vallodid.. its not a rear traction machine like the old 201 imho.

If it had a smooth tub shape etc like you say then it would look just like a Vega
