New transmitter
 

Are the code stick transmitters any good , I'm on a tight budget and my son wants a stick transmitter to replace his durango rtr wheel transmitter

Some love them, some hate them. Son has an etronix one ( same, just a different brand) and we've had no problems. I know of at least 2 other users at kiddy club who are using them without issues.

Makes sure you get the newer one with the blue receiver, lots of people moaned about binding problems with the older black ones.

My only significant observation is that is a little small for adult hands but that is good for younger drivers.

the lcd one is very good value. lots of adjustments. the non lcd is a bit too basic cant even adjust endpoints AFAIK.

I used the lcd wiyh no problems, Nori and his lads use them and seem to like them

My son and I use an LCD one, and we have had no problems at all, found the sticks a bit to Long but unscrewed and removed a piece and really comfortable now.

I also found the pointy bits a little sharp so sanded them down a little

I had one for a month it failed. Got a replacement and it was going berserk was inference constantly. It now resides in the bottom of the cupboard never to see the light of day again.

I've had a go of people's cars helping them find out what's wrong handling wise and found that there is a delay between the car and Transmitter even in HRS mode. So if the backend of the car steps out then you will struggle to catch it.

The transmitter is the most important piece of RC equipment. No point in throwing money at a car when you can't control it.

Save your money and put it towards a Sanwa Genimi 2.4.

saving for a sanwa will take a looooonnnggg time. They are insanely expensive.

doesnt seem anything fancy but if its like other spektrum radios it will work quite well

About time too. Now if they could just add some computer functions I'd consider getting one assuming the price was good.

Dx6i aren't very expensive if you don't mind swapping some parts between the right and left sticks to make the throttle self centering. The receivers for them are cheap too (new AR400 going for around 20 quid)

I use the futaba 3gr 2.4g excellent for the money, also keep an eye out on eBay some 40meg system can be coverted by clip in or hack module. Can work out cheaper n you get a very good set.

Main ones people convert are, ko prop, futaba t3vc, field force 3, hi tec ecilpse pro car, sanwa exes & Gemini 2.

Second-hand Futaba 3GR (2.4ghz) is what I'd go for. You can pick them up for around £100, sometimes less. Fantastic radio for the price, never any issues with interference or binding, and instant response.

The el-cheapo sets aren't worth it for the small amount you save. A radio is a long-term investment as a good one will never wear out or need upgrading.

The Sanwa Gemini 2.4 is £160 which isn't bad at all for what you get . It's cheaper than a new Futaba 3GR at £200.
