Punch setting on Hobbywing ESC.
 

I have a Hobbywing SCT pro ESC which I use for my 1/10th buggy. It's basically a V2.1 I think. Anyway, works great, but my main problem with it the Punch setting. I've bee using it at setting 3 in an effort to calm the ravages of my HPI 6.5 motor.

However it is still like a raging bull, so I've now popped it down to 1. That's the lowest punch setting available! it's still a hooligan!

Is it just that a 150A Speedo is too powerful for a 1/10th buggy?

I also find that the brakes are a bit weak, even set at 100% with the initial set at 40% and drag at 10%

It's got the latest firmware etc. Any ideas?

Sensor end or sensor less?

I run a different system 60a 9t sensorless motor and with punch on 0 it is still quite lively and would imagine with your motor more so as you are running a very fast motor. Also the size of your esc has no affect on speed a lower amp will run hot and higher cooler.

Have you tried resetting your radio end points back to 90% of full travel then recalibrating the ESC to the radio?

Hobbywing ESC for some reason like to be set up this way - once you have calibrated increase them back to 100% and check that the green lights come on at full travel

Next check what the reverse setting is on (even if you don't use reverse). It needs to be at 100%. I personally set my initial brake to equal drag brake (15%) in 2wd

If your car is still to punchy then try going up a pinion or back the throttle end point down a few clicks

I take it your running the MOD. Software and not stock - do you have any boost or turbo options on the ESC?

Sensored motor.

Mod setting, no Turbo or boost.

I'll check that the reverse is set as described. It's just a shame that the punch setting isn't more effective.

Reverse was set at 25% - is now set at 100%

Drag is 10% and initial brake is the same as drag.

I'll let you know how that goes....
