DEX408 Setup?

Having some issues getting my DEX408 to handle the way I want it too... Only run it twice and whilst I really like it I don't really know what to try first..

Had a disaster yesterday at the E8 Nats and struggled all day.. Would appreciate any advice on the key things that I need to look at or areas that make the biggest differences.

Current setup:

Front

600w oil
1.3 piston
White red spring
2.0mm roll bar
Mid outer hole on top link
Mid on tower
Outer on wishbone
-1 camber

600w oil
1.4 piston
White black spring
Mid inner on tower and mid on hub
Outer on wishbone
2.6mm roll bar (all I had)
-1 camber

Soft city blocks

Car was really loose and I couldn't put any power down at all, couldn't even get over the jumps that everyone else seemed to fly over!

Any advice appreciated!!

I havent run my DEX all that much but i have run my DNX alot, so for DEX -

FRONT
1.4x4 - 42.5 - White Orange or Silver Blue (I personally like the white series front and rear)
shocks fully out on tower and out on arm
14* castor blocks
camber link in the middle inner hole
5000 diff
7000/6000 centre diff

REAR
1.4x5 - 37.5 - White Black or Silver Black (I personally like the white series front and rear)
shocks inside on metal tower or middle on carbon tower and second hole out on arm!
camber link inside and 2nd hole up on metal tower or 4th hole up on carbon tower and third hole out on hub. (outside) maybe middle if you need some rotation but you said the rear was loose so outside)
3000 diff

im currently running the truggy rear tower on my DNX which works really well on the 2nd hole out from inside for the shock and im deciding whether the 2nd or 3rd hole on the wishbone is better? lol same link positions as stated above for the metal tower. Could alos work on the DEX i just dont have 2 truggy towers... YET lol

Hope this helps and works for you let me know how you get on with it!

Thanks for the help, I'll give it a try and let you know!

Doesn't seem to be a lot of support for the Dex which is a real shame as its a really good looking car and really nicely engineered..

Hi mate have you tried the Team Durango web site setup sheets for the Dex408.

There is a good selection from astro through to clay setups.

Most people that see the Dex408 are in the same mindset about its build quality and track performance.

I have run mine mostly on astro and its never let me down.

I have a national coming up soon, if the car is good ill get the setup sheet on the TD site!

I forgot to mention that u mite wanna run the +2mm mod with 2* antisquat and 3* rear toe in

That is for clay with some crazy pathing corners and astro jumps

How do you run the shocks on the rear? Does it need any major mods?

No its easy, you just turn the rear wishbones around and right to left and if running a metal tower turn it if running carbon you dont have to and mount the camber links on the other side of the tower, some of the team drivers suggest to mod a front roll bar to work but pigrc.com make rear diff holders that also holds the rear roll bar allowing you to run a rear roll bar

and my roll bars are 2.4 front 2.2 rear, if you need more grip 2.2 front 2.0 rear

Here's a pic of the mod with the bent front sway bar, taken from Ryan Lutz's website http://lutzinator.com/.

The only place I know that sells the PigRC rear diff holder is http://www.rcsupermarket.com/index.a...dotto=3597-469

If you don't want to cut your wing, Sumo Racing makes a spacer to move the wing mounts back http://sumo-racing.com/DurangoDNX408.html

Cheers gents, have ordered the PIG RC diff holder so will give it a try... (RC Supermarket have been great!)

Not too bothered about cutting the wing, so will get the dremel out!
