If so are they any good or is there better on the market?

have a similar thing on my garage door. the previous owners fitted it as there was a series of garage raids in our road several years back.
Never had a problem since

I think it would actually be more effective to supply the garage door handle with 240V but i dont think the little one would remember when she goes to get her bike out :woot:

At least that way you get to give them a good kicking when you find them laid on your drive when you return home from work

I have a tarmac drive currently so i would have to concrete in the base unit, what is the best/neatest way to cut out a hole in the drive with out it looking gash.

I did but it turns out the newer garage door locks have spring loaded things in the lock so with a worn key and a wiggle and a tap they can get in which is what the police said happened to mine.

what would the cutting be for? the original product you shown?

Lee 11-08-2008 04:21 PM

It says you have to get the built in base unit if you have a tarmac drive, so basically i have to sink an anchor into the ground.

If i remember ill check for bit sizes in work tommorrow. pretty sure an SDS bit will do it but they wont come in 73mm - there are other types which ill try find the name for which I know do go to that size.

Lee 11-08-2008 04:28 PM

Cheers Paul

Or a proper security system could be a good idea. Might be more expensive but will be audible to your neighbours and you insurance will go down.

Lee 11-08-2008 04:30 PM

Got one, nobody on my estate is in during the day though

jimmy 11-08-2008 04:32 PM

get yerself an ip camera and just watch your garage from work in a little live window - then you can call the rozzers yourself!

Lee 11-08-2008 04:34 PM

I had thought of some sort of camera jimmy, i could even see who the mrs is shagging during the day :woot:

Typical huh. There are ones that link to the emergency services too.

This is the fitting instructions for the garage defender if you havent seen them: http://www.saundersonsecurity.co.uk/...JB301_inst.pdf

Here is the range: http://www.saundersonsecurity.co.uk/..._Defender.html

If you get an IP camera you could have it on an ethernet home plug system directly into your garage or wherever, then setupt he software to record on movement.
