Hong Nor CRT brace
Some might know already, but I reviewed the HN CRT RTR "UK Racer" for RACER magazine recently. one of the few flaws on a great car was the rear plastic brace. It connects from the rear gear box to the centre of the chassis- stopping any flex. The stock plastic one simply bends too easily, its long and too thin.
I couldn't find an official alloy brace anywhere, I saw some expensive and not so expensive 3rd party options but the part looked easy enough to replicate, even I could do a messy job of it. But instead I gave my 6mm alloy plate to Roger Wood, who runs the bury metro buggy club, and rog did such a great job I thought it deserved a post in a new sub forum of its own :p http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/misc/woodybrace01.jpg ^ you can see the original in the background - the bend in the middle is of course from abuse. The one roger made is almost invisible, it's so shiney! http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/misc/woodybrace02.jpg Rogers brace uses two screws at the front instead of the one on the original. http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/misc/woodybrace03.jpg ^ It makes everything else on the RTR look a bit dull and boring now. It would need to be run over by a REAL monster truck to break this, and even then...... Thanks Roger |
That is very shiny and undistructable looking :D
And i love the name of the sub forum smelly things but you could have called it smelly orrible things. A |
Looks good Jim.
Smelly things, I want something cheap to play with on the weekends.... |
The hong nor is a good laugh, i enjoyed giving it a thrash about. I'd get one mi self but i couldnt run one anywhere. Too many kids, and not enough space.
Roger has done a good job on that brace jimmy, i like that chrome finish also. It's quite amazing how much the standard one has deformed without actually snapping. |
i really want one its just i cant afford to buy one.
