GM Genius 90 firmware?

I have a GM Genius 90, I believe 1st generation esc. It currently has firmware v7.2. I would like to run the esc in blinky mode therefore need v13.

Can I update this using the usb link or do I need to send it the factory for the update?

The old ESC isn't able to run the new (V10+) firmware.
