What 4wd 1/10 off road car would you have and why :confused:

Make is largely irrelevant IMO.

Much more important is where you are racing, what cars do they run and what does the local shop stock (spares).

All the main makes are fast, robust and handle well. They all cost several hundred to buy and kit out.

There are always the latest fads and currently it seems to be XRay and Schumacher K1 as they are the most recent. You will find posts saying every single car out there is the best but your ability is 99% of the equation so pick any of them from this list and you will be fine.

reason : easy to drive and easy to work on and also parts are cheap and easy to get hold of.

i have a k1 when i was looking for a new buggy it was k1 or xb4 the only reason i went with the k1 was i have a sx2 and alot of the spares carry over but if i had no spares i would have gone with the xb4 thay are quick and built like a tank.

Fast as anything, you get everything you need in the kit, they are tough as nails, a pleasure to build and easy to work on.

also really easy to drive and when you make changes they are reflected straight away.

Come on ..... we need Yok, Rango and Kyosho fans to step in now :thumbsup:

I have only driven my B44.1 but I agree with nitroman, it is very easy to setup and drive but I have not driven many others so not fair to compare and say mine is the best.

Why? After the first answer, the rest was (basically) rubbish.

I know, but it was so predictable. I thought it would be funny to have a thread where every single make had someone promoting it which would have nicely supported my original premise.

Still don't know which car to get, want to get back into it last car I had was a pro cat 20 years ago still got it so iam thinking k1 ???

Do plenty of people at your local club run a K1? Or do you have a local shop that carries stock?
As was said earlier, all the cars are so good now that spares and setup support are an order of magnitude more important than which car you buy..........

I am looking to get back into the hobby after 20 odd years out, I have popped down to my local club and wouldn't you know it the cars are spread pretty evenly, Schumacher, Associated, Durango and even a couple of X-Rays, I would love to go for something a little different so is there any mileage in going for something like a Durga or even a Caster? I like the idea of a B-Max4 or XXX4 but aren't they both getting on now and what are they like for spares? I did note the CML reference in an earlier post though. Cheers, Chris. :)

After a 22 year or so break from racing, I got back to it ad came back with a Schumacher as that's what I had when I left.

As mentioned, there all pretty decent. for one reason or another.

again what local shops stock is an issue althou with the fast delivery and internet spares for most makes/models can be got.

I have had all of the modern 4wd pretty much except a Durango, and I am now on an Xray XB4, and think its the best one of all. Love it, fast handles and easy to work on, latest car and it shows.

After a 15yr break for me I've come back with a tamiya 502. I love the way it handles but find parts hard to get for it. Saying that only ran it 3 times indoors. It was built but brand new and never ran when I got it, but the people I knew with tamiya's have sold up and going for k1's so I'm tempted to do the same

I plumped for the Caster, just to have something different! I've thoroughly enjoyed owning it and getting it sorted. Spares are cheap and the back up from Answer RC is first class. Plenty tips on the Caster thread in this section if you have a look...

Don't think it really matters as it's down to driver ability, there was a guy at one of our local clubs who raced an Ansmann 4wd and would get in the A final every week I'm not saying they're bad cars only that they weren't popular against the major brands; further more isn't there a young driver by the name of Darren Bloomfield who has been racing nationally in A finals wth a sixteen year old car?

Whatever floats your boat , i own a B44.1 as i want a car that has a strong spares back up.

I have owned cars in the past that dont have the uk spares back up , and so you need to order from abroad. Hardly something of a problem , but i prefer getting my parts the next day .

I love the look of the new Hotbodies and Losi , so you never know.

B44.1 is easy to drive , very neutral and strong.

If your new I'd probably say 44.2 but if you know a bit then the K1 I have both and found the 44.2 easier to live with.

But the tools are all imperial so bare that in mind, K1 is metric....
