Will be interesting to see if the bugleboy covers fit.

What does it build out from the plate?

Just done this, only issue is with the length of the slipper shaft (its about 5mm too short, i've trimmed the spring a bit) and the notch that runs on the other shaft (can't remember its name! But the AE one is about 0,5mm narrower than the TD one, needs dremelling out to allow the shaft to fit).

All works fairly well so far, think i need another 10 minutes of dremelling as i can't quite get the slipper tight enough, think it might be binding somewhere i've already dremelled! (But obviously not quite enough!)

Will have a first drive tonight, unless it rains.

rcjunky 29-05-2013 11:58 AM

I belive thats why he did the bit of drilling with the 5mm bit, to make the screw go in a bit further.

mattr 29-05-2013 07:37 PM

Yeah. I've already taken it almost down to the shoulder inside that bore. About 1mm clear. I'll have another bash at the weekend. So far it works well though.

Pato what bottle did you use for the cover?

pato.b 01-06-2013 07:07 AM

I can not tell you.
The bottle did not name

mattr 03-06-2013 02:07 PM

All done, had to take a fair bit out of the slipper plate, but can now (just) get a nut on the slipper shaft with the spring in place.........

Dombrasky 03-06-2013 03:25 PM

would this work in mm ? has anyone tried yet.. as the cover could get quite close to the shock spring

OneKiwi 03-06-2013 04:10 PM

It will for me as I have flipped the arms and shocks however, It should be ok with normal placement but I think the main concern will be the cover hitting the shocks, if you don't get a custom made one.

Maybe we should ask bugelboy to make something

mattr 04-06-2013 06:28 AM

In MM with the shocks forward there won't be enough clearance if you use the inner mounting holes (the position on the tower is more critical) if you are using a more outboard position, there should be enough space.

Not actually put a spur cover on this car yet, as i'm not going to race it, just try things out......

(I'm running with the flipped wishbones/rear mounted shocks on this car, so no issues yet, unless I go RM!)

OneKiwi 10-06-2013 11:27 AM

I made my own cover.. if you drive TD you will probably have one of these that I used, any guesses?

Tight but usable

mattr 10-06-2013 12:02 PM

Which hole did you use on the Tower? Looks like the second one?

Good thing I kept those empty shock oil bottles.......

rcjunky 26-07-2013 03:08 AM

bumping a slightly older thread, do you drill right through the slipper pplate or just as much as needed? Looks like I'll be doing this tomorrow moring for a big race (very last minute, being on dirt this is probably more important then turf that I normally run)

mattr 26-07-2013 06:10 AM

No. You need to keep the two flats on the ID of the outer plate. You just need to make the hole a little deeper.
Will also need to take some material off the two flats so it fits over the shaft.
