corner cutters amoung us !

After trawling though the video footage from tonights racing I noticed in particular one driver (who shall not be named) was cutting a corner lap after lap right in front of the camara!

Firstly, WHAT A FOOL!

Secondly any suggestions for a suitable way of preventing this or punishing drivers for this type of lack of respect go the track boundrys .

I will post the video on YouTube tomorrow and post a link to here so you fellow racers can past your own judgement all I can say is watch the last final and see for yourslefs ;-)

Oh no!! I've been caught!!

I would hope that peer pressure will stop people from cutting corners.

But if it doesn't, perhaps we could start removing their wheels? :)

Thankfully it wasn't me as I wasn't there  have a word with them and in future if it happens again start docking laps.

2nd what lee said, but secretly want to go with mrslows suggestion.

U could make them run race control for an evening doing manual lap counting.
Race one round with steering reversed.
Force them to run a fluorescent green bodyshell.

Just a few suggestions

I really enjoyed my evening.
Just need to cut out the stupid mistakes.
The track is really good, fast and flowing.
There were a couple of suggestions that I made with regards to the positioning of the obstacles which would also assist with the corner cutting.
Just need to fix the car now so I can have another go.

Well done everyone involved.

Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves and liked the track.

I think we may use Chris's suggestion and move the ramp a bit further from the corner.

I'm very amused by Callum's slip up. I'll be keeping an close eye on him now ;)

I wasn't there on Saturday so can't comment but in all forms of motorsport the job of the driver is the make the track as short as possible, thats why 12th cars and F1 cars alike bounce over curbs and blot dots.

In buggys if the cars get air bourne and this can be used to an advantage, drivers will do it. Is that cheating or just working the track?

Who knows, but at events like Worksop and Chadderton they use cones to block any advantagous flight path because they know drivers will do it if they can.

Staxman 19-05-2013 10:14 PM

But this was unfortunately not just bouncing over a kerb...it was a deliberate shortcut. Missing out a whole section of track maybe shaving 1 to 1.5 seconds off a lap. And it wasn't just once as I was marshalling right on the ramp where the infringement was occurring on a regular basis.

On another point entirely however, I was really pleased that in the 2wd a final when Naill accidentally took someone off. He stopped and waited for the competitor to be marshaled before continuing. That is very good sportsmanship and should be applauded.

Well done.
