x6 squared "planted"
 

Hi guys,

Hoping for a few tips:

I've run a new build x6 a few times now on astro and indoor polish/carpet, the car feels ok, but from reading reviews and other peoples comments before i got the car i was expecting the rear end to be a little more planted than what i have experienced so far.

Most of the comments seemed to surround the fact people struggled for steering and the car was generally "under-steery" but i have plently no matter what i change to the set ups inc tyres???

Also i'm running the ae v2 dampers with the losi big bore springs on them, the oil piston set up seems very different on the x6 to get it to "feel" right on the bench than any other cars i have had in the past.

Just after any suggestions please to get the rear more locked in (on power, initial and mid corner. I've heard that you need to run alot of droop on this car, but compared to others i've run it seems alot to me???

Nothing bent or bust mate, I'm quite meticulous. I am running the saddle lipos side by side with a machined chassis, not tried it in the origional formatt yet?.

I've also a brass front bulkhead that i'm going to remove for the next outing, is it the norm to run it or not?

Can't upload any pics at the moment fella but will try soon (work permitting), the car is stripped after a wet meeting yesterday.

Also check the out drives and axles aren't worn. A full setup would help, or point to one on Petit you're using. What tyres?

If it is loose everywhere then you will have to move weight back, there is no other cure if you have the right tyres.

Ok, I haven't driven my X-6 (yet), but based on Elvo's website on RC Handling/Vehicle Dynamics I'd say you could try the following things (IF the basics of your setup are correct):

- Longer rear link (inner ball stud further to the inside) - gives more roll and more grip, especially mid-corner.
- Shocks less upright (mount further inside on shock tower) - it gives more sideways bite, but it is less suitable for big jumps than more upright shocks.
- Less Anti-Squat - haven't tried it myself but I can imagine this might polarize under- and oversteer between on- and off-power.

Also, I've got the advice from an experienced X-6 driver (oOple member janus) to have 3-4mm less droop on the front that the rear when driving on clay. So if you have plenty of steering perhaps it's worth a look what droop levels you're running? :confused:

That said, like Elvo said, a full setup would be really useful - if anyone knows the X-6 it's him and I'm sure he can spot what you need instead of getting 'non-specific suggestions' like I gave you :p!

Could you give a good starting point for the same surface as im stripping my X6Sq down for a rebuild so wanting to set it up while im rebuilding it.......???

The same as what? The OP had both astro and polished floor.

Sorry i meant the same surface as ASR is running on, as in polished wood/carpet
