what double sided tape is every one else using, because both my esc came unstuck after the wet weather on sunday. i am using the schumacher tape that comes in the kit. both cars had a tiny bit of water inside them nothing much, i noticed when starting the finals that both esc had become unstuck.???????

I've found Tamiya's double sided tape to work very well. It not only adheres well, if you ever take the electronics off the tape doesn't rip in two or leave residu (at leat not for me) - it's something I've yet to experience with other tapes.

Before sticking any double sided tape on though I would recommend cleaning it will a cloth and some brake cleaner :) Also, if you apply it indoors (at home) I'm sure the temperature and humidity levels help to make sure it adheres well in the first place (I think few or no tapes work as well when adhered in humid conditions).

Personally I use Velcro - but I know this is for the weak. I want to try and get some of that M3 solid Velcro stuff but have yet to go out and buy any, but its still an idea?

As mentioned above the Tamiya stuff is about the best, a solid bond and bo residue left when removed. It's not cheap though at £5 a pack but will last you a while.

I've tried just about every two-sized tape out there, and one way or another - because of what we use it for, and how we use it - every brand has its issues and can come loose (whether it be from moisture, dust/dirt, vibration, time).

So what I've made a practice of doing is using the servo tape more for its vibration dampening - and then putting a small dab of shoe goo/amazing goop on either side of my esc's and rx's to hold it firmly in place. Never ever had one come loose this way.

One thing you have to make sure of is that both surfaces (chassis and speedo ect) ate totally clean and free of grease. Clean both surfaces with brake cleaner first and let it totally dry. Then heat up the tape with a hair dryer so it's very tacky. After this it shouldn't budge

Also maplin do some that's cheap and it comes in a roll and it's as good as anything. But make sure it's not the paper based one

I tried this (3M stuff) in my Dave GT12 on speedo/rxr and PT and everything detached itself pretty much every run so I gave up with it - it may be better in a buggy with everything being a bit more damped but it also raises everything up a few mm more than tape or std velcro so not good for the CoG if you care deeply about that sort of thing :D

For tape I use the stuff off ebay for attaching automotive badges etc, cheap and has really good grip, can tear a bit when you remove it, but can usually be peeled/scraped off carefully with a thumbnail

I have tried the automotive stuff/velcro/nearly every thing I have just got some sticks like nails outdoor sticky pads ill try them but I will pop up to bmm and get some Tamiya tape if all else fails I am going to tiger seal them in car body shop bond

Mate I can't emphasise enough how important having both surfaces clean and free of debris and grease. As if its not clean it doesn't matter how good the sticky pads are IT WILL NOT STICK. You need to de grease your surfaces and make sure all of the old tape is removed and then you need to heat up the new pads with a heat gun/hair dryer. You will have no problem after that

If its a clean dry surface it doesn't matter what you use - it won't be coming off even in the wet. Water is only a problem if it wasn't stick down properly to start with.

just make sure its clean then just before you peel the backing of warm it right up with a lighter or some form of heat get it nice and toasty, wont come of even when you want it to then,and it works on even the cheap stuff.

Oh it's clean this time I used white spirit to remove the bits of tape that did stick then a wipe with brake cleaner left to dry then warmed it all up with her hair dryer

I mean warm the tape up the glue side so your heating up the glue, and I don't think a hair dryer will be hot enough for that

Its what i've been using for a couple of years, nothing comes unstuck. Even when its wet.

her hair dryer is as hot as my heat gun but i warmed the glue up on both sides it feels well stuck iam sure it will be raining next time out so we shall see

To be fair mate if you run your undertray and Velcro your shell it shouldn't get any water in at all

if its raining we duct tape the shell closed between runs
