damn.broken bits!

managed to bust a set of ddp hinge pins today at low speed at epr and with them they took out the hinge pin block (twice...2 separate crashes at the same place...knob!)and a rear wishbone.ahh, is that common?:eh?:

pro4nut 03-08-2008 04:04 PM

i wouldn't say common but epr can be rough on any car from my experiance, and a clip at the wrong angle will right off the rear end.

i was more upset that brand spanking new pins didnt make it thro practice at 10pounds a pop.not happy with that really.and i wasnt i only one!

I did break a rear brace and bend a pin today, but the car did fall out of the air onto the rear corner of the car on concrete

And I broke 2 front wishbones today, but still finished 3rd overall!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Garry, are you unable to make the pins now ?

Darren Boyle 03-08-2008 06:11 PM

Garry the new longer titanium pins will be with us any day now (when customs decide to stop using our delivery as a seat in the their depot and eventually release it!!) these along with the new revised toe in blocks will be far better than the current DDP ones. There is a theory that the "hardened" DDP ones actually become more brittle after thier journey across the atlantic pond in the hold of the aeroplane. They never have any trouble with them in the states, but the new Titanium ones will be a better bet and much cheaper too!!!

We're getting there! Emirates had their first flight on Friday, Quantas soon. Then the ramp-up is ON!

like dms says there are new ones coming. i run the kit ones as they just bend under heavy crashes so you can still finish the run and can straighten them again without issue. i have used the ddp ones but for what ever reason i found them brittle instead of strong as i snapped 3 in quick succesion on what i considered to be just catching things. go back to the kit ones for now gary. if you havent got them in time for ya next race i have a spare set ;)

thanks nath.i had kit ones any...aye they seem like a better option long term.
