vintage-ish tamiya spares

Does anyone know any good sources of tamiya spares on the web?

I'm starting a project to restore and race my first proper rc car, the super astute

It's been sat in a tub since 1995. I have no idea what bits I need, but I'll bet there's a model shop in HK that has everything on a shelf for next to no money....

also - does anyone know what 2.2 wheels will fit? :D

Try E-Bay, but don't expect bits to be all that cheap, most of the sellers know what things are worth, plus you'll be trying to get bits that are pretty rare, that lots of other peeps might want, which'll put the price up, I saw a Supershot body set go for over £120 just before X-Mas:o

well I just splashed out £40 on a new complete gearbox :woot::woot::woot:

this made me spit out my water:

WHOOOAAA!

70 notes for a bodyshell?

"they are having a laugh."

Ebay and Tamiyaclub are your two main sources of vintage parts, one of the Tamiyaclub members makes alloy replacement parts for the Astute, and another is currently developing a range of reinforced replacements. A few of the parts are compatible with Tamiyas TR-15T nitro truck which uses reinforced versions of the parts and are still readily available from Tamiya.

As for a body Kamtec make an Astute replica

nice one mate.

I saw the kamtec shell on ebay - 30 quid is a bit more reasonable. I should have looked after mine - but as a 14 year old I wasn't very clever at looking after stuff.

the re-enforced bits sound interesting; I do intend to race my super astute with other 2wd cars semi-seriously, albeit with a 10.5 as I don't trust the gearbox with anything hotter!
