Can someone make sure we have genny fuel as well please.

Darren Wales 27-04-2013 08:05 PM

You got me 2wd pal?

The weather looks to have turned a little from earlier in the week so Greens looking favourite. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/bl9

See you around 10 pal, got a job on first thing.

rapidrubberwill 27-04-2013 08:18 PM

Si i have sent you a pm

Si Coe 27-04-2013 08:24 PM

Booked in.

Why worry about the weather - we have a nice new car park that won't be a swamps so bring the rain!

Gavin Collingwood 27-04-2013 08:36 PM

2wd please si, yes but now we have a car park where we can't put up umbrellas or tents for all the hardcore..

Si Coe 27-04-2013 09:31 PM

The car park may be hardcore, the people hiding under fishing umbrellas aren't :p

Mr Satchell 27-04-2013 09:42 PM

2 and 4wd for me Si.

Mr Satchell 27-04-2013 09:44 PM

Gavin, unless you've been to the track since Tuesday and tried it, can I suggest you hold your pessimism until you have tried to pitch up tomorrow!
I'm actually faily confident you WILL be able to put a peg through the hardcore that, although compacted, it is by no means a road surface!

Gavin Collingwood 27-04-2013 10:20 PM

I have in fact been to the track and yes there's no chance if putting a fishing umbrella up or even maybe tents as I tried as it's very compact... I'll have to set up beyond the car park on the grass behind

birdy 27-04-2013 10:20 PM

Or just pitch on the grass!

Si Coe 27-04-2013 10:21 PM

Ok - Pre-booking is now closed.
15 2wd, 6 4wd so far.

I would advise anyone who sent me a PT number to check its correct. I have some sort of dyslexia type thing with numbers so noting down PT's isn't really something you should trust me to get right. And never ask me for phone numbers......

Great turnout today, 7 full heats and even a Trucks heat with 6 in it.

Another great track, thanks again to Rob and those that helped.

Despite a few issues Si did another sterling job of race control and is getting more competent week in week out. I reckon the company in the cabin helped and will be repeated

Shame the weather put paid to 4 rounds, but a 7 min final (for those that actually did more than my half a lap) was at least a compromise and was well received.

Pre-booking in, for those that did it really helped, so we need more people to take up this to ensure we start racing for 11.30am No Later! We will resend this to all our members via email as well as on here to capture more people.

A big welcome too to our newbies. I hope you had a good day and hope to see you back at the next meeting in a fortnights time.

Darren

I blame Gavin for all the computer issues!

Lots of stuff to work on from today - mostly little stuff that needs tweaking but I've found out a bunch of new tricks.

There were 8 trucks in the end when Les and I joined so that was 7 full (8, 9 or 10) car heats. Its a shame more trucks don't run in the wet - mine was great fun drifting round the banked corner....

bandit 28-04-2013 05:05 PM

Cracking day even though I left just before finals.
Have say the track was an awesome layout it gets better every week.
Again the meeting was ran as smooth as it could be even with the slight :p drizzle we had.
Look forward to the next visit.
Thanks to all that run the show.

Mr Satchell 28-04-2013 05:16 PM

Think we need to stop Gav interfering with the race controller. Si gona get my sct a speed controller this week so ill b playing next time. Marshals was a bit slow today at times but apart from that was a good day.

Critch 28-04-2013 05:18 PM

I didn't race,
but I did pick up my new car, once again thanks silverfox,
Had a really fun time just watching, and thanks for making me feel welcome,
Had to say I was really daunted at the amount of people when I 1st turned up, but I was made to feel very welcome,

Darren Wales 28-04-2013 05:36 PM

Good choice

For what it's worth Critch, I think you have made a good choice as a starter car there and a good deal to boot. The b4.1 have good residual values for when you want to step up a gear or even get the mid motor conversion, whichever you choose.

The best advice I can give you is don't be shy! Ask for as much advice as you can, you will never to left to fend for yourself. Finally, the single most important thing i have been told ( but only just fully appreciating ) are TYRES = 95% of car set up. Get them right and you will find you can master the art of getting round steadily and build from there! Good luck and welcome to the family!

Truth be told Gavin did me a favor, cos I needed to change the settings sooner or later and its better to screw up on a wet club meeting than our regional!

Anyway I've set the system to round by round, 5 min heats and finals, 2 second stagger by default. I've adjusted the way final starts are timed to prevent the 'too fast first lap' issue when we start on the straight and updated a few drivers ability ratings to make more sense.

I still don't understand how on earth the final grids were worked out - but it doesn't really matter. I've sent Neil the results to post up, though what with all the weird setting changes they are mostly confusing.

What really matters though is its been a cold, wet and very manic day for me, but I was still smiling when I got home.....
