Jumping Ship
Right, another dilemma :woot:
My project is nearing its end, fair enough that happens, but the company say they have plenty of work on for me to keep me on, (they maybe saying this so i dont leave early though) i also have a very nice job offer to go back to aberdeen, but this morning i came in and the client of a very big project our company was doing work for has gone into administration. Do i jump ship now and avoid the rush for jobs if and when the time comes or do i sit it out and take my chances. Pro`s for aberdeen: Money Cons: Away from home mon-fri 10 hours drive per week on top of work I have also told them i will have an answer for them by tomorrow as i have put them off for 2 weeks already :( |

Your women not moaning at you every day :thumbsup: |
go for it m8 if companies are goin into admin then its time to shoot. ok long travel and away from better half but cant she move up there or does she work as well ???
|
I wouldn`t ask her and the kids to come up, aberdeen is so far from anywhere half decent, and its cold and wet and dark by 3pm in the winter.
I think i will have to go unless my agent comes through with something at the last minute :( |
I'd go while you've got the chance.
What do you do to have an agent? Are you some kind of Man whore? |
Lee, how could your project possibly come to an end? Is someone else working on it too? :p

I wouldn't like to be away from my kids all week and i also wouldn't like doing an extra 10 hrs driving. Thats like an extra day's work every week. It'd have to a lot more money! If they say they got plenty of work for you can't they tell you what that work is? At least you'll know then if they're just saying it. |
Its more, controlling the production of the oil rig, from the second it comes out the ground untill it gets pumped off the platform, everything from pressure levels flows, temperatures, viscosity, then all the storage, also there is the safety systems like the fire and gas side of things, on top of that there is the HVAC side and all the alarms for the accomodation. The list goes on.
The client who has just gone tits up was the next project, we also know another has just been put on hold from another client. I could go out to dubai with this project i am on but i will get more cash in aberdeen and be home every weekend. It is a lot more money :) |
