Charge 2 x 2S batteries as 4S?
Is it possible to charge 2 x 2s batteries wired as series as 4s? Is there any way of balancing them both at the same time?
|
Theory says yes if they're all the same capacity....you would have to mess about with the balance leads to wire them into your charger for balancing.
|
yes you can, i bought a lead from wim at AMC to do it but cant remember who makes it but it is made to do the job and it does work but batterys to need to be matching
|
Some people have been saying you can't as it is to risky. I was going to use 2 x 2S 5000mah 30C but they are saying that the batteries won't be even matched when charging and one may get most of the charge and one only get some.

LRP do a special balance charging lead just for this purpose (well, actually for 1/8th electric racers) this will allow you to balance charge 2 x 2S lipos, so long as your charger will go upto 4S
|
Fusion do a dual balance board and I think Modelsport sell them

No idea of the part number for the LRP one? I have searched and can't seem to find nothing from LRP. Charger will do 4S batteries. It is for my MP9E, wanting to try and run 2 x 2S Lipos. http://www.greathobbies.com/products/t/tgh/tghx1000.jpg |
Give action model centre a ring they do them

Think I may have worked it out.

Thanks,
I've searched around and not many shops even list that on their sites. Do the balance cables have to be set up differently if the batteries are being charged in series or parallel? |
I have one of the leads here, I no longer use it as I now race 1/8 nitro. PM me your address and I will post it to you.
Or if you'd rather buy one then try here... http://www.modelsport.co.uk/lrp-univ...roducts/369469 |
What charger are you using? Most will charge at less amps on 4S, so you won't save much time vs doing them separately. Also unless they're very even they could take a long time to balance.
