DB01 Newbie

Hey folks,

thinking about buying a DB01, I've been reading alot about it... right now I have Df02, which has some upgrades to it... I like the Durga... what how do you guys like it..

DCM 26-07-2008 08:50 PM

very neutral on the base setting, very tuneable too, and for smiles per dollar, can't get any better than this!!

if you plan to use a modified motor get the slipper clutch kit.

Bye

Hi.

After broke yesterday another rear suspension mount (rear gear box) of my DF-03 (3 in one year). I'm also thinking about to buy a DB-01 for racing. So after read a lot of posts here, I made a small shopping list to buy all the options that the car needs and some spare parts with the car together (I already have TRF Shocks). Can you tell me if I forgot something?. Is possible to use TRF-501X diferentials directly on the DB-01?.

Tamiya (#54018) DB01 Slipper Clutch Set
Tamiya (#54033) DB01 Carbon Reinforced A Parts
Tamiya (#54034) DB01 Carbon Reinforced D Parts
Tamiya (#54035) DB01 Carbon Reinforced L Parts
Tamiya (#54036) DB01 Carbon Reinforced M Parts
Tamiya (#54037) DB01 Aluminum Sus.Mount (Front)
Tamiya (#54038) DB01 Aluminum Sus.Mount (Rear)
Tamiya (#54039) DB01 Aluminum Sus.Block
Tamiya (#54040) DB01 Motor Heat Sink
Tamiya (#54041) DB01 Carbon Reinforced Chassis
Tamiya (#51304) TRF501X DB01 Front Wheels
Tamiya (#51305) TRF501X DB01 Rear Wheels
Tamiya (#51311) DB01 Front Suspension Arm
Tamiya (#51313) DB01 Rear Suspension Arm
Tamiya (#54015) DB01 Assy Univ.Shaft F
Tamiya (#54016) DB01 Assy Univ.Shaft R
Tamiya (#58404) DB01 Baldre
Tamiya (#54024) Titanium Screw Set
Tamiya (#53972) Aluminium Steering Bridge
Tamiya (#54051) Center One Way

Thanks.

hi eotz you do know that this a budget race kit right?
if you are goin to race with this kit i advice to keep spending as little as possible on this kit. but if ur running brushless then dont skip on the slipper clutch

You can directly use the TRF501X differentials, but with that shopping list, you're better of buying a TRF501X kit.

Eotz 28-07-2008 03:18 PM

Hi.

The idea is to buy the kit and spare parts at the same time. If I buy the reinforced carbon parts, I will keep the originals for spare if in the race i break something (From one side to this time, quite habitual ).

But yes, maybe is better to buy a TRF 501X WE but without spares.

Thanks

Eotz, you're crazy! Haha.

Btw, the rims you listed are the black ones. Some of my friends who have had them seem to agree that the white ones are stronger for some reason. I never had the black ones myself since I got the Baldre which came with whites.

Also, I wouldn't bother with rear universals since everybody says they are shorter than the dogbones and come very close to falling out at full droop.

Frankly, I think you should play with the buggy a little and decide if you like it before you spend all the money on the options.

The white being stonger than the black?
I've heard people say the black is stronger than the white.
I have a set of DB-01 rims to try on my 501x.
I havent glued the inside jobs to them yet though.

DCM 29-07-2008 05:10 PM

Blacks jump better than Whites B-Mag.... you should know that...

Where did you hear that the black wheels are stronger than the white ones? Are you just making this up B-Mag so you have an excuse to make another senseless post? Lol. Just teasing you buddy, but some of your posts are better left unsaid.

peetbee 29-07-2008 10:19 PM

Nope, you're all wrong, the yellow wheels are the strongest :p

That's an awesome shopping list you have there though.

DCM 29-07-2008 10:21 PM

aaaaaah, we are getting somewhere....

Blacks jump well

Yellows are more efficient and WILL take over the world

Whites are trash...

Are we still talking wheels??? ::D:

B44&501xRacerEX 30-07-2008 12:31 AM

I really dont think it matters what color wheels you use.
The White, Black and Yellow come from the same factory.

It's probably just a matter of taste.

Oh my god, what have I started?

Toonz 30-07-2008 03:00 AM

its been confirmed.

black will conquer triple jumps when the car is in 100% box stock condition

white will only flip the whole car backwards and lands on the wing and crash the rear shock tower, even the 3racing ones

yellow will at least land on the front wheels only when the DB01 uses the carbon chassis from the 501XWE. (modification instructions can be found on
www.B44&501xRacerEX.com) yellow tastes good too!

yellow snow doesn't, you want to avoid that!

cbrook01 30-07-2008 09:11 AM

colour.....

what if they make orange with blue spots... how do you rekon they will jump?......:p

DCM 30-07-2008 09:27 AM

they just wont, cause they will be girlie.... but you could use them to hipnotise the other drivers.....

Toonz 30-07-2008 09:34 AM

then maybe they should make some auto light up wheels and at install some blades to blind the drivers and cut their cars:woot::thumbsup:
