Newbie Saying Hello!
 

Afternoon

Just thought I would say hello, used to browse the WORM forum when it was just the indoor racing club. Now there is a dedicated off road track and club in Weston I think I would love to get involved.

I have always dabbled with RC's over the years, never really making any informed purchases just what seemed a good deal at the time. I do currently have a Vanessa Lunchbox which is more for posterity than anything else!!

I need to buy a suitable car for the track and have been having a look at the South West RC website for some ideas on what's available. In terms of a beginner is it a case of buy a decent 1/10 buggy and upgrade it as you go or is there a minimum spec I need to look for??

Any help would be most welcome and I think I will try and pop down on the 21st when the next club day is on.

I'm in a similar position as I am transferring from touring cars to 2wd off road, my homework has come up with the Durango Dex210 as being one best options although I am also considering the Associated RC10 (because I have always wanted one and they have a great reputation no better reason). Using my touring car experience brushless is the way to go so given the above the guys on this forum have pointed me to the dex210 RTR brushless which at the moment can be bought for just over £200 and seems like exceptional value.

Personally I am going to hang on and get something second hand I think that hopefully has a few upgrades, I would have hopefully bought something at the meet yesterday but family stuff got in the way...

Some of us who race micros will be racing at Hutton village hall (5 mins from the outdoor track) tomorrow night if you want a chat & some advice on what to buy for the outdoors season. :)

Heh, funny you say that I was just checking out the info on the WORM website about indoor racing, if I'm not careful I may be a case that I have sold one touring car but will end up buying 2 off road cars, one 1/10th and one micro/mini (sorry I haven't sussed out what's what yet).

Tomorrow could be doable but not definite got a lot on at the moment but thanks for the invite

Out of interest what's the most popular class that you race indoors and what are the top cars?

Indoors is Micro off road. Popular cars are the Carisma GTB, Losi Mini Eight or the Schumacher EMB-1. With the GTB & EMB-1 around the £100 pound mark all you need is electrics which can be sourced very cheaply and you are up and running. Pop along and have a look plenty of free advice and banter :)
