What ratio to run ?

Hey folks, I am after some advice for my old 410R, I have recently upgraded my motor to a speed passion V3 5.5, I need to know what is the best pinion to run ? I am currently on an 87t spur and a 22t pinion, but was told by a few of the lads that I was grossly over geared ? We run indoors on a mixture of carpet and polished floor (about 50/50 mix) also lots of jumps and twistys.

Anyone able to advise before I go buy some pinions ?

Cheers

Richie

18/19/20 seem to be the popular ones for a 5.5T

I run a SpeedPassion V3 5.5 and run 22/87 outdoors but indoors would run a 20 on a tight track going upto a max of a 21 if the track were large. I also run a MuchMore 7.5mm thick 30mm square fan which makes sure the motor is kept cool no matter what. After a run I always check then temperature of the output drive from the rear gearbox to the slipper and if this is hot them I just put a smll amount of grease in the CV joint and then on the next run it will come back cold and this will also help keep the motor temp down.

Thanks buddy, could I be cheeky and ask for a pic of your setup (how you have fitted it to your car) ?
Here is mine, but I have really struggled with where to put things...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps731ede76.jpg

Well I better get some pinions ordered !

Cheers again for the help

Technically all motors are different so should take notice of the manufacturers recommended gearing.......!!!

The recommended gear ratio for a speed passion V3 5.5R motor is between 8.8 - 10.5 !!!

Page 33 in the manual gives you the gear ratio's using an 87t spur gear with pinion gears ranging from 16t - 30t !!!

In case you wanna know how to work it out........!!!

spur / pinion x internal = final drive ratio

87 / 22 x 2.47 = 9.76

So according to speed passion you are Technically within there recommended gearing :p
