Lazer ZX-R MkII Pinion issue
Hi peeps
As you all probably know, when Kyosho (under the instruction of their team drivers) decided to shift the weight distribution forward, they didn't re-design anything they just chopped the motor plates down from the front. I have an issue whereby if I try and fit anything larger than a 19T mod06 pinion, it won't because the motor can hits the rear bulkhead! Solution?? (The reason I want to know is because I'd like to finish my lazers using vintage pinions of the same size, preferably 20-21t) Nick |

The ZX-R spur gear is 48dp and is the only one that works with the ZX-R slipper, so unless you are using the ZX spur gear on a hyper clutch you should be using the smaller 48dp pinions.

No hyper clutch. Standard spur mod 06 (32p), not modern 48p. Tried different motor holes but no avail. |
That's why!!
It's a bloody LA-2 spur, instead of a TM-7!! Right, who's got a couple of TM-7's NIP? |
Terry isnt exactly correct as my design spurs work on all slippers designed for the zx and R. Ive done four or five designs. I will dig out one later and add a picture. .6 explains it so if ive enough will sort you out with a 48dp one

Found it and also came across a new ZXR 48dp spur as well. If my memory s correct you will need to fit the bushing into this.
Anyway this is one of three or four i've designed, this is 48dp with holes for the ZX slipper, also this mounts the hyper clutch on the ZXRR as well as the layshaft ive designed for the B4 slipper clutch. it also should fit the Mk1 slipper as well but to do so you will need to use the SC10/B4 high torque associated slipper pads as the spur has the hex indents milled out for those pads. s you know the Mk1 slipper pads had slots for the spur to lock into but in reality the hexes and pads do exactly the same thing, lock the pads into the spur. However as I never tested on the Mk1 slipper I cannot confirm if the indents are too much so may find the slipper not fully locking correctly and may be too loose, but believe it should as the indent is only half of what is on the B4 spurs, unlike the latest version I use on my ZX which is the full amount. However I have the original spur if needed, so let me know. |
