New C4.1 Battery Brace

Something I have done for Chris Evison, this is his new car with the new CF battery brace. He can now run stubby or saddle in any format.

(Its my wing though)

Nice work Tony!

If you look closely on the cross piece of the brace, there's a hole which i pressume is for the gearbox link ;)

Just not got the brace on yet  it will be on soon.

Not that you can see it very well, but the rear tower is mine also

Really like the look of this Tony.

Will you be selling these, and doing another batch of the longer chassis?

tony12795 04-04-2013 06:22 PM

Just so people see the latest batch of LWB chassis I have manufactured has the holes for the centre mounts, if people are interested in the top brace then send me a PM or email me [email protected]

Has anybody done this conversion using Tonys latest chassis and the CF brace..?
Can't work out how to fit the original lipo holders and side braces.. The holes seem to be wrong ...
Any advice, photos, would be much appreciated...

Thanks Gareth..... Already done that, twice, no response ,yet ..!

MatJohnson 14-08-2013 11:55 AM

There is nothing different about the holders, they are standard bits. The chassis should have the front holes drilled close together.

Aire valley 14-08-2013 03:02 PM

Thanks but not quite true I'm afraid.....the new battery strap is wider at the rear, than the original, and so fits into the rear side lipo holders hole..If you look at the photos, the side lipo holders have been moved forward slightly into new holes,so are now in front of the battery brace rather than alongside ..My new chassis, Tonys latest version, does not have these additional holes.!

So, does the battery posts not just sit on top of it? as in longer screws and shorter posts?

Been a whilst since I looked at my chassis but looking at the pic of Chris's that looks about right? I think the pic is showing a bit of shaddow

Aire valley 14-08-2013 07:01 PM

Good point...:) ... But where do I get the shorter posts and longer screws. .?
Would I have to cut down the existing battery posts.?
I'm not good at this cut and shut DIY business...

MatJohnson 15-08-2013 07:40 AM

No idea mate, Its just normal size screws so give it a try. There is nothing different about chris's chassis and yours though (its the same as mine as well) but try it for fit first then shave it off with a dremmel.

The idea is that you can still have the cells in saddle, shorty of how they are above so everything will still fit if you trim the posts.

Thanks very much, managed to work that out now with your help and confirmed by Tony..:)
Will get some spare battery posts to cut down, just in case
Thanks again.....

tony12795 15-08-2013 10:34 AM

If you shorten the posts and want revert back then just use spacers. you dont need spare posts.

My battery posts are nice brass ones that came with the car..don't want to cut those down..!
The standard posts are B44 ones, it seems, so have ordered some of those to play with..!
Thanks to you both for your help and patience..:)
