Futaba recievers

The FrSky TFR4 reciever works with the Futaba 3vc. I use these, they are a 4 channel reciever and are just a little longer than the spektrum sr3500. These are a lot smaller than original futaba recievers and are about £32 which is a third of the price.

Hi will these work with the futaba 4pk
Thanks
David

They will work fine with a 4pk, also the 4pks if you select the correct mode on your transmitter. Your basically using the equivalent to a 603ff or fs model Futaba receiver.

I have 1 of these, second time out 2 min into a race my car took off at full speed down straight. Hit a wall, hit a marshall and then hit another wall. It was still trying to go too. Some1 managed to grab it.

I don't use it anymore

It had glitched a couple other times earlier in the night, turning car on and off sorted it, but that was the last straw for me.

We've also had issues with the FrSky receiver.

Most of the time it works fine. But on Saturday practice days last year at the BRCA clubmans series it picked up interference off someone elses transmitter. You could clearly see the throttle and steering responding as someone else was driving round the track. Happened several times during the year, and only during this one series.

In theory this is impossible with 2.4Ghz. So either Futaba have made two transmitters with the same unique ID (unlikely), or the receiver gets confused and accepts more than just the transmitter it was bound to.

We still use it, but only indoors in a Mardave where theres no risk of damage if it goes wrong.

I have the exact same issues, it only seems to happen in a specific series and I have concluded the same as you. I haven't found out who it is but I'm convinced it is only one person that my frsky gear gets mixed up with. Put Futaba receiver in and problem goes away.

Hi folks this is possible and did happen with futaba with some early release aeroplane RC sets they were released with a similiar coding
very rare to coincide unless two fellow club mates buy new gear at the local model shop (which is what i belive happenend)

not saying this is the case in this instance at all but it is feasible doenst explain why replacing with futaba rx cures problem cos that does point to frsky rx though

First time I have heard of any problems with FRSky receivers. I have three, all have performed faultlessly in 12th, GT10 and GT12 cars. I run mine on the HRS setting in my 3VC and no problems.

Did anyone using these have either:

Both aerials up the same mast OR
Took one aerial out.

Aerials should be at 90deg to each other - one vertical, one horizontal. That mimics the Futaba receiver that has the horizontal one inside the receiver and the vertical one on the 'wire'. If you take one aerial out then you run the risk that you don't have the 90 deg set-up and it may fail to reject some spurious signals. HTH :)
