Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid Special

Doing my routine ebay search I stumbled across this used, near mint condition Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid Special or also known as the "TOMS".

I wonder how much does it really worth.

The Australian owner is asking $930 US dollars or roughly 620 Euros, does it really worth that much in that condition?

What do you think? POLL: YES is worth it or NO is not worth it

I would be very tempted to sell mine for that amount....

Its worth whatever YOU think it's worth.

The guy in questions appears to have a very nice collection and in very good condition.

He sold a YZ10 '97 it seems for a hefty sum taking into account this car is little different to the Pavadis WCS '95. Granted the '97 is a rare model, but I was surprised it went for several multiples of a WCS '95.

I think a significant factor here is the generation of most buyers currently are all late 20's 30+ somethings who can relate to that era of the Optima, yz10 etc. Maybe one day all our cars may fall into historical obscurity? For the next generation, it might the the Team Durangos and Xray XB4s that become "vintage".

Definitely.

The only way to get an idea what something is actually worth, right now, is to see the price of a completed sale on ebay, and even that just gives you an idea of what two people are prepared to pay for it.

Currently work for me has been dead the past couple of months and money is very tight right now, so to me that TOMS is 'worth' about €100 as that is as much as I would be prepared to pay for it now, while if work had been good I would be prepared to pay considerably more for it, but nowhere near €620 as I don't think any built vintage car is worth that much even though there are many who are prepared to pay considerably more.

Good points.

Like Terry said, when you are feeling on the top of the wheel($$$), when you want something, you buy it period.

Something IS worth what someone is willing to pay.

I see the price has been reduced to $800AU now ($825US). I paid around $700 for mine in good used condition and it came without wheels, tyres or a body but the seller let me pay it off over a month or so as it had been listed for a fair while.

Well the only 100% original TOMS I have is my NIB one and it still hurts when I think how much I paid for that!

The runner has a lot of aftermarket and modded parts on it and my shelf queen is full custom made carbon fibre.

I would say the eBay one is overpriced though.....the only rare parts are the front tyres, the yellow wheels and the chassis, everything else is relatively easy(ish) to get a hold of via eBay or our own Kyosho network....in my opinion!

I bought a boxed (wrecked) Optima Pro just because it came with a set of the original TOMS darker yellow wheels - the Optima Pro is currently being restored too :)

The only thing missing from making mine 100% original is the body, I have the correct wheels and tyres and chassis and every single part on it is new, however I'm not sure I would get that much for it.

I considered buying that NIB TOMS that was on eBay a while ago but it was gone in a flash!

I've would bought that instead of the money pit spend on mine, well more or less same amount, AND that one is an original.
