Hello everyone, how we doing? Im just making the switch from 1/10th electric touring cars to 2wd buggys. Just wondering which brushless motors you guys yous? I will be racing at the Bury club hopefully after March do you guys run a certain motor class or is it which ever you can handle... lol

Whatever you can handle but for a 2wd I wouldn't advise going beyond a 7.5t, maybe less. Some people run more powerful motors than that but our track isn't that big so its not required.

The speed and power of the cars these days is massively effected by the batteries. As Si said I wouldn't suggest anything higher than a 7.5 in 2wd or even an 8.5 if you have Lipo's with a high "C" rating.

Well you don't really because nobody checks, but there is no clear best choice. What to go for depends on your driving style more than anything else.

Very good choice of speedo they're fantastic. Just beware have the punch setting on number 1 not 8 or 9 like you'd have on TC, the HPI flux motors are brilliant especially given the price. Pound for pound the best. Obviously the Orion or Any of the top motors will be good too but they're £90+. To be honest the motor will only be as good as your speedo powering it and you've basically bought one of the best speedos out there so you're golden

I run the R10, 3 of them actually!

They are really nice! I have a VST Orion motor but not tried that yet.
The LRP X12 or TEKIN Redline are my fav 2

I have to agree with Gav for once here and suggest the HPI flux range. I too run an R10 speedo and to be honest in a 2wd gaining the necessary power isn't the issue its regulating it so spending £90+ on a motor really isn't necessary.
I run Thunder Power motors which are equally as good as the flu x's and a similar price but far more places stock the HPI motors.

Last minute I decided to go for the speedpassion 2.0 pro was bit cheaper that swung me and ive gone for a thunder tiger 8.5 motor! Not bad for under 200!

Ive bought the cougar sv2 should arrive tomorrow hopefully just need batteries and im away!!

Yeah the R10 has possibly the smoothest power delivery of all speedos which is crucial in 2wd. The sv2.....? Hmmmm...

If you've gone for a Speed Passion 2.0 its not a bad choice either. The R10 is in fact what would have been the Speed Passion 3.0 (both are based on Hobbywing Xerun platforms) so its like you've got the slightly older model. Still a very smooth esc, as smooth as the R10 in fact just without the mega power boost features you don't want in a 2wd anyway.

That and a Thunder power 8.5t is a pretty good combination - more than enough power and buttery smooth.

Of course I'm running a GM Genius 120 in full TC spec with all the boosts on max and a poor little Orion 10.5t revving its heart out so in a way its all academic......

If you're used to TC speeds. Get a 7.5 you'll be fine

ey whats wrong with the SV2?

another thing im stuck on is batteries! does the SV2 only take the saddle packs?

It just takes around £50 worth of optional parts to get going fast and it's super brittle. You'll find almost all 2wd buggies need saddle. Get saddle and you'll be sorted
