Battery fitting problem, please help !

I hope someone can help with this. I have an original BJ4 (non worlds) which I love. I've been running lipo, but recently bought NIMH cells because the local track doesn't allow lipo yet.
I got a few packs of the Orion 4200 SHO's, but they seem far too big for the chassis cell slots. It really puzzles me because I can't imagine that thay are SO much bigger than cells a few years ago. The width is fine, but with each cell slot they do this -

0 0 0 0 0 0
- - - - - -

it's the same problem with the hold down strap. I've filed the slots already, I don't think I can file them down any more and still have enough material.

Any ideas / suggestions ?
any info would be really appreciated ! :)
Cheers, - Nige.

Is there any glue between each cell that might be spacing them apart slightly? I'll try some SHO's in a chassis when I get back from work tonight to see how mine fit :)

I can't see them being way off, as the Orion conforms to the BRCA 08 spec - so it should be the same size as the cells the car was designed for ;)

But there are two types of SHO, EFRA spec and rest of world :p

Thanks guys for the VERY quick replies ! I also was puzzled. Thy're not hugely way off, but they certainly don't sit right. There's no glue between the cells, (the battery bars are holding it all together. I'll check out if theyre EFRA spec or not (I forgot). Could this be the reason ?

The non EFRA spec ones are bigger I think - thus why they are not EFRA/BRCA legal.

oh arse, that's probably why then. I shoulda checked it properly. Must remind myself, vodka and internet shopping don't mix.

you could always mod the chassis cell slots and a b44 cell tray in or bj4we equivalent

Hey, thanks for the replies ! Mike, - thanks for your input too. I have the original version, so i probably can't use the B44 tray, but thanks for your help ! I trimmed down the battery posts a little, and it seems to have helped, certainly more of a snug fit. Thanks again guys for your help and suggestions !
