One Way - Front Diff - Drive Shaft - S4
 

Is anyone running the one way on the shaft for the S4. I have just got hold of one, but just realised that I dont have a shaft for it. Does anyone know a compatible one or let me know how they have butchered an existing drive shaft to fit.

JC (Mr Atomic) made up a few shafts for the team to try about 12 months ago and I really liked my S4 with a one way propshaft. Give JC aka Oldtimer a PM and maybe he'll be able to help.

AC do not have any. Before I butcher some existing shafts and make up my own, does anybody have one they want to sell and save me the hassle:thumbsup: Pleeeeeeeeeease

I certainly will. Out of curiosity, have you got the one way section for the gear box? You'll need that too. Any idea on an eta for your S4? I am looking forward to opening the worm hole when the unstoppable force meets the immovable object! :lol:

The S4 switches the long and short drive shafts due to the position of the motor mount. On the S4 it's the shorter shaft required for the front one way instead of the longer one as per the BJ4. The shorter shaft on the BJ4 is only ever used to drive the rear and therefore doesn't come with dogbones both sides. Hope that makes sense.

If I make something and if it works (the second if being the biggest of all if's!) I'll drop a note on here.

Hi Ben, have you seen the thread re the B44 slipper conversion for the S4/BJ4WE, would it give you the front end conections you need without all the work?

Well i did it. Cobbled together a drive shaft to run the one way on it. Did not enjoy the drive.

Had scrubbed tyres on their to begin with and resulted in the turning circle of a HMS Belfast. Switched to new grippy tyres, removing two outer rows and 1 inner row on front and 1 outer row on rear. Turning was much improved but under my normal drag brake settings, it would "handbrake" turn into some corners. Grip roll came into play considerably where near to eradicated with 1 way set up previous.

I didn't feel consistency in the car at all and couldn't guess what it was going to do next.

In case it was a bad day at the office, I am going to give the whole car a once over the weekend and see what happens at the regionals with hopefully smoother driving from the fingers and thumbs!

Yes you will get a bit less steering out of a corner but not drastically less, you should actually feel the car has more steering on a long sweeper.

Braking effect should feel identical to a one way in the front, if it does not there is definately something wrong.

I would do exactly as you say and strip the car and check everything then go and have another go. The one way on the shaft with a diff up front should make the car easier to drive through and out of corners, it should take away the aggresive feeling the front end can give when you give it the power. You should feel absoloutly no difference on the way into the corner between a one way on the shaft and a one way in the front
