Side to Side in Diff

Dont know if this has been posted before but do people shim or leave the play that there is in the diff moving side to side in the gearbox housing ?

Which car?

Some 'play' is normally OK, better that than tight, don't want it floating around in either car though.

Anything up to a couple of mm is nothing to worry about
