Kyosho half 8 Inferno.
 

Hey all, I've got a Kyosho half 8 09 Inferno with the nitro engine, I've only run it twice since I bought it in '08 but I was thinking of an electric conversion. In hindsight I should've bought the electric one to start with.

Looking on here there doesn't seem to be much talk about them lately, have they fallen out of favour for some reason? I checked on ebay and couldn't see a current version available.

Am I better off to just buy a different brand? I've only ever had Tamiya and Kyosho RC cars so I'm not very familiar with other brands.

It would be easier and probably cheaper to buy a mini-inferno EP.
I Don't know if any shops have stock but we have in the warehouse the ST Plus truggy on Special offer. You can order from your fav modelshop.

Thanks for the link, I'm not into ST's but I'm guessing it could be converted into my buggy? How much does it sell for?

I wonder if Kyosho have plans of bringing out an updated version sometime in the future?

There were talks of them releasing one at the end of last year, BUT then i heard nothing else of it so its either been delayed or they have changed their minds?

Keith, Save yourself a lot of hassle and spend your money on something else.

Mini 8, Carisma or the new micros from Schumacher would be my advice.

If you're having trouble finding a Inferno, then imagine what it's going to be like to get hold of spares........near impossible!! If you can order spares through a Kyosho dealer then it could take between 1 week to infinity to get! Time that you won't be able to race or bash. Trust me....I've had one and it was sold on eBay for spares because I couldn't get any!

All the spares for the models I listed are available at many good modelshops and are well supported.

I've arlready ordered the one in the above link, if finding parts becomes an issue I'll look into something else.

As mentioned above I have the nitro version of the Mini Inferno, I'm trying to get hold of a replacement battery (part No. ky71650 (or kyo?)) but no-one seems to stock them anymore.

Is there some kind of alternative battery that other nitro 1/18 buggies use that'll fit the 09 Inferno? Maybe the cells can be bought separately and I can make my own pack?

You will have to make a pack up! I am afraid we cant get those rx packs any more.

OK, no-one else makes the same size batteries? Where would I find the right cells and connector tabs to make one up?

Perkins do quite a good range of RX packs.

Double post.

Thanks for the link but it doesn't look like any of those will be suitable. The closest I could see was 50x29x32mm in size, the pack I need should be 30x35x25mm. It's a very snug fit in box with the reciever.

The idividual cells are the same diameter as a standard AAA battery but just over half the length.

Maybe I could use a different battery/reciever configuration and use a slightly bigger battery? Not that there's much room to play with. Can the servo's work with a different voltage battery?

4.8 volt is ok but 6 is best.
You can buy the smaller batteries loose to make up there is a guy on e-bay I used to use.
