FASKOLOUR HELP

Hi to all,

Faskolour paint,do you need to thin this paint down before spraying? (although the paint does look quite thin already) if so what is the best stuff to use???
Any help greatly appreciated, although i know there water based and you could use water iv'e heard people talk of using window cleaner or IPA??

Thanks

I have only had to thin faskolor a couple of times, had a bottle of light blue a few days ago that for some reason was very thick and the airbrush said no.......I did as faskolor recomend and thined it down with a little water, BUT you only need a very small amount, they say 1 tspn full per bottle:woot:. so if you are mixing small amounts of paint you only need very small amounts of water. Works fine then.

Hope this helps, Other far better painters than me that are on here may say diffrent:lol:

Thanks for that mate, its going to be weird spraying this stuff as ive been spraying with pactra cellelose based paints for years and ive finally had to give in and change over to water based ones, especially as they have some really nice colours available.

Cheers:thumbsup:

Yer I used pactra for the last 15 yrs. started using faskolor few months ago, It's great stuff the colors are so good and the fluoresent colours don's seem to fade like pactra, Just do as they say use 40-70psi when spraying and get the hairdryer out use thin coats then have a blast with the hairdryer, you can see it dry in seconds speeds things up no end, and the best thing is it smells so much better and you don't need so many nastys to clean the airbrush out bettween colour changes:thumbsup:. ur pactra will be heading for the bin:lol:. But remember to seal it with something if you are doing a nitro body as I don't think it likes fuel etc as it's water baised

depends on yer airbrush size. .5 will spray straight from the bottle. anything smaller n youll need to thin it.
try a 50/50 mix of water and windolene and thin yer paints with that as required. or if you dont mind spending a few quid more, get some auto air reducer.

Cheers guys for all the advice, i use the aztec airbrush which i have to admit is a nice piece of kit, its going to be so much cheaper now cleaning things in water rather than buying gallons of cellelose:thumbsup:

thanks again:thumbsup:

ahh........so thats what you paint boys do with the windolene, I thought you drank it whilst spraying the shells:lol::lol:

Haha, we do....sometimes.

Do make sure its the clear stuff and not the pink stuff though :p.

I've always used windolene. But have found recently that its not needed thinning. the thick stuff could well be an old bottle making its way through the system.

A fresh bottle should be work unthinned in airbushes down to a 0.3mm nozzle, when it is an old one it may be necessery to warm it in warm water and shake it severel minutes and perhaps to add some drops auf water...
