Doubt it will be bone dry as light drizzle today and cloud (no rain) rest of the week. We'll have to see. If I'm well, I'll be there to race. Man Flu again

I'd like to come and watch as I'm new to offroad. Are you guys running on AstroTurf? Is it floodlit?

Yes to both

The entire lap is Astro and the flood lights are pretty damn good all round

Erm erm....I'd probably smash it to pieces at the first corner! Total noob. However I will come along and have a look around. My Durangos should be finished by next week so ill be joining in soon definitely!

Was nice to pop down briefly yesterday and have a look. Love the track and seems like a nice friendly atmosphere. Being a noob to rc/offroad (raced Tc a couple of times at wlrc) I'm just concerned about getting in the way if people and ruining their heats/races. Is there anyway of practising a bit at the track beforehand or should I just take the plunge and race?

dobber 01-03-2013 09:41 AM

We are trying to organise a practice session once a month but nothing in the diary yet. Dont let this put you off though. We have a real range of drivers from top drivers right down to the beginner. The best way to learn is to get a car and get on over on a thursday, nice and relaxed and everyone will help out with setups etc, and when your ready you can see me for a membership form :)

Kelk 01-03-2013 09:47 AM

Just to comment on Dobber's comments (which I presume is Duncan?) - I only started about 6 months ago and everyone at the track was great. I turned up with a rolling chassis and didn't know a thing about how the electrics were going to go in and then set ups etc and about 4 people just gatehred round and started doing everything they could to help and it was great.

Within 30 mins they'd got me out on the track and I was racing, if you can ever call what I do racing, that evening.

Honestly there is a massive amount of knowledge down there and a huge amount of willingness to help :)

Dudders 01-03-2013 10:02 AM

As Duncan and Chris have stated already, getting in the way (as you call it) is fine, never a problem to crash at every corner. Duncan still does it now after 12 years racing!

Get your gear and come down, no issues and you will not be in the way. We are a club club, so novice/new drivers are really helped and encorouged.

Fantastic guys thank you for the encouragement. Ill try and pop down Thursday then if the weather isnt as bloody cold and the cars ready.

I have Durango DEX410R, Hobbywing Xerun 120A esc, Reedy Sonic 5.5T (trouble waiting to happen :D),Reedy Lipos, Alturn Servo and a Tamco/Core/Etronix Stick Radio. Ive run touring cars so wiring and electrics arent a problem. May just need a hand with setting up a offroad car...

Cheers
Sam

Just guess at a set up and race at the back with me! More fun that way.

What happens in terms of spares? In case I break a wishbone/hub etc dies someone carry spares that we can buy or should I come prepared with them?

racer11 01-03-2013 10:01 PM

hopefully someone might have a spare if anything goes wrong:thumbsup:, for setup there is an app on apple called 'rc cheat sheet' which is a good indicator for all the different things you can change and what they will do and how they will affect the cars handling.
