B-Max 4 - Versions..

Can someone help me out.

I get really confused when it comes to the B-max 4 line up, can someone list out what version came first and what was new on the updated versions?

B Max 4 - original kit with plastic shocks 2008?
B Max 4 FT - All the hop ups etc etc etc

Thinking of switching to yoke for 4wd as well this year but want to get my head round all the flavors out there first. :)

Latest and full thing is B-Max 4 II Japan Edition 2012 or part no.: bmax4wn. There is also the B-Max 4 II World Specs 2011.

Difference between those two is that 2012 has 2 chassis in the package and 2 upper decks, hard and soft for carpet and everything else respectively. 2012 also has the updated X-Shock version 2 the exact same ones that the 2wd has.

What Mekios said is pretty much it. I dont think the Worlds version is available any more, just the WN. I fitted the Hard chassis/topdeck to my car and it makes a great difference.

Great build and pretty bulletproof.

Thanks guys.

So from what I can ascertain the time line goes something like :
  • B-Max 4
  • B-Max 4 FT
  • B-Max 4 II World Specs 2011
  • B-Max 4 II Japan Edition 2012

AFAIK there should be a B-Max4 II and B-Max4 II FT between the FT and the World Spec and a B-Max4 CP (Champion's Pack) before the FT.

What is the difference betveen the shock caps on the spec-11 and the 2012-verson? -Only that is has bleeder holes?

Does bougth cars have the c-rings on the axles, and totally the same everything else?

Shock caps should be identical, it is the lower part of the shock that is different (no clip in the newer one, threaded lower shock cap). According to the manual, both the WS and the WN have the C-ring drive shafts.

Do I have to buy the sylinder to get it updated, do you know what parts I need?

Arnefles 01-03-2013 09:48 AM

Reasen why I'm asking is that I have a spec on my hand (brand new in box) and want to know what parts I need to get it 100% as the new verson and how much it will cost me.

I don't whant to buy the spec if I have to change a lot...

In this case it will probably be cheaper to get the WN kit. Almost all shock parts except bleeder shock caps, lower plastic parts, springs, O-rings, e-clips and maybe pistonsseem to be different.

Ok, in that case I see you! Do you know why they did new dampers, the old no good?

Arnefles 01-03-2013 04:35 PM

Is the new dampers the same as the B-max2's?

mekios 02-03-2013 10:53 PM

Exactly the same.

The old ones are very good, with the new ones changing the bottom O-rings is easier as there is no need for the small wire clip.
Design of the X-Shocks V.1 seems to be based on the small bores from the MR-4BX, which were also included in the B-Max4 Champion's Pack - and on my son's B-Max4. These are easily as good as the shocks in the ZX-5SP I once had.

I drive the BX now and the dampers is the best I ever used :-)

But off course I want to have the same dampers on the two cars ;-)

Does anyone know if the stabl.kit is in the new B-max4 kit or is it a spare part?

blue_pinky 09-05-2013 10:28 AM

You get 1 set of anti roll bar parts with the kit, so would need to get a second set separately if you wish to fit one on both ends of the car!

Ok, thanks!

Do you know what pistons incl in the kit?

blue_pinky 09-05-2013 03:07 PM

My kit came with the same set of shock parts as the BMAX2 MR, so tapered 4 hole pistons, which I used when I built it.

It also had 2 pairs of different colour coded 6 hole pistons as well...can't remember off hand what the colours were though.

mes 10-05-2013 07:15 AM

There should be one pair black and one pair white pistons in the kit.
