22 accelerating growlly screech noise

as i accelerate had to get up over a jump, or at the start of the straight my car makes the horrible screetchy sound and i have been told it is the diff but not sure how to stop it, please could someone share how i would do that?

its either the ball diff, tighten it up... or it could be the slipper, tighten it up. Its probably the ball diff its a a really bad screech, tighten the screw that is accessable from the side of the diff, you dont have to take anything apart aside from the link.

yes sound like the diff mate just tighten up the diff a bit but not a lot
mine used to do it i run a gear diff now and wouldnt go back to a ball diff

racer11 24-02-2013 03:59 PM

how do i tighten the diff? heard its simple, is there a step by step guide?

cryer-evo 24-02-2013 05:21 PM

do you not have a manual for the car ?
was the car 2nd hand ?
2mm allen key

i no peaple will say for proper racing you need a ball diff but i would just get a gear diff for me made the car much more drive aball and a lot less fuss than a ball diff

diff

pop the ball cup off, drop the drive shaft out of the diff, tighten the diff, you'll see the screw inside, just go 1/8 of a turn at a time, and recheck.

just did it and definitely tightened the diff! did it about 3/4 of a turn in all.

Swell 24-02-2013 07:00 PM

Still doing it?

racer11 24-02-2013 07:33 PM

no i think the 3/4 was enough as i cannot turn the other wheel easily while holding the left wheel and spur. any advise?

When I did my diff I buggerd the trust nut carrier( cheap plastic socket)
Thing you can buy a hop up Ali one with 2 spare lock nuts get those before you strip it if you don't want to miss a race, if yours is striped as mine was it will keep coming loose....
Rebuild it though its worth it get new rings... Trust bolt...
There's a great vid buy losi ont tube
Good luck

get your self a gear diff mate the losi ball diff is a pain in the ass i got fed up of having to rebuild the diff after evey meet

RDG 40 25-02-2013 11:45 PM

C if you can buy a associated screw and nut there easy to get hold of and then it will b hassle free

Remember to bed it in before use aswell

Check losi vids there very helpful

No diff should need doing every meeting! I could easily go months on one build even a full outdoor or indoor season with no failure. I jus do it sooner jus because i do but even then 4 meetings then flip plates and re grease etc
