hi guys was wondering what the score on removing front diff and driveshafts from my old 4wd and running as a 2wd would it be legal for regionals etc etc:confused:

Yep :)

I guess so, right? It has legal electronics for 2WD if it was legal for 4WD, as well as being within the maximum size range and minimum weight range of both classes. I can't imagine it will run nearly as good as a purpose built 2WD (on the other hand, with a modded front end and weighted driveshaft you'd end up with something like a DB1), but sure you could give it a shot? :)

You've not see Glenn Westwood driving his 4wd XRay in 2wd style then. Pasting drivers!

The rules state:

2WD = X2 Driven Wheels

Go front wheel drive!! Could be interesting to try.

For it to work well you need way more weight up front than your usual 4WD - reversing a 2WD is more in the right direction for an FWD (though so far I've found it's preferable to have the weight balance even further to the front).

That said, FWD buggies are a lot of fun :thumbsup: I've got mine making stoppies on tarmac and carpet, and the lift-over oversteer is a very powerful tool to do some agressive and extremely quick cornering!

I think they recently changed the rules. Saw it mentioned on another thread somewhere. Originalreclambord was posting on there too. (Excuse the spelling)

They were legal in BRCA (at least last year) and are too this year :thumbsup: (Let's keep it that way unlike the IFMAR, after all FWD is also 2WD) - The only difference is that they stated this year that the driven wheels on a 2WD have to use 'rear' (=wide) wheels/tires, whereas last year it stated rear wheels.

The new regulations even out any advantages for an FWD in choosing any front tire, but also allow me to run a rear end without using worn or cut tires (you don't need a big load of rear bite to keep the car stable).
