Servo advice
 

I'm in the process of updating my kit on my return to the sport after many years away. My new project is a B44.1 FT roller so I need prety much everything, I found this old Futaba S3003 servo in my kit, the question is will it be up to the job or has the world of servos moved so much that its better left to collect dust?

Specs state 4.1kg of torque and speed of 0.19sec to 60degrees.

Most would want something a bit quicker and definitely stronger for 1/10th 4wd (ideally something with metal gears). Will get you by for a while though if funds are tight.

thanks that's great advice, I think I will find a suitable replacement. Can you recommend a value servo that will give enough performance for torque and speed? Not looking for bells and whistles just something that works! Or could you give me the minimum acceptable torque/speed figures to look out for?

Personally, I would want something that does at least .10sec to 60degrees and 8-9kg+ for 4wd, although others may and probably will disagree. If you can get all metal gears in budget then do it.

I use Savox servos which represent great value for money. They are quite power hungry and can disagree with some speedo's BEC circuits, but I've never had an issue - if it was, a power cap would solve it. They are a very good spec for the price.

Also seem to be able to get them locally (at least in Sweden) for only 8-10 dollars more than the AMain price.

Not broken one yet, which with my record (6 servos in under 2 years) is going some. I switched to these as they are cheap enough, despite the quoted spec, to be almost disposable.

About £18 delivered. I used one before 'upgrading' to a savox 1257, to be honest, I wasted my money upgrading.

I believe the specs on the blue bird, unlike the power he and mks servos I've had in the past.
