Power caps

hi was wandering whats the best power cap also the largest i could fit on to
speedpassion or hobbywing esc

also what do the numbers have in relantion to each other from my understanding
the uf number is the amount it can store and the volts is how highest circuit voltage it can take ?

eg say i had 2200uf 16v would i get more power out of a 2200uf 25v
i cant see y it make a difference as lipo batteries work at 8.4 max ?

The voltage rating will have no effect, just make the cap physically bigger. the 16v is chosen as its the best value for 2S-3S, as modern 1/10th esc's are rated for. 25v is overkill, and will just result in a bigger cap.

Cheaper ESC's have radial electrolytic caps, wheres the solid aluminium caps produce similar capacitance, but in a smaller package, and are more expensive.

You are better with an array of smaller value (330uf-470uf) solid caps as these will charge faster than the single larger cap, and have a better smoothing effect.

The 2 cap or 4 cap units from hobbywing or HPI are very good. same units as speedpassion and orion, just cheaper.

Thanks for the quick reply I like the single caps as easy to keep tidy in the car less space needed but is good to know about the volts

Just another question the sp is a 2200 uf cap if I put a 4400 uf cap on am I running risk of popping stuff how big can u go safely
