ansmann charger good enough for lipo

Having got my brushless set up I am now leaning towards lipos. I have the deluxe base charger which is capable of charging lipos, however is it good enough as it is or do i NEED other bits and bobs to make it work properly..ie balancer. I assume that when the charger is in lipo mode it detects the 'fullness' of the battery and charges accordingly. How else would it work if the lipos dont need discharging..or am i missing a trick?

Next question.best below £50 lipo stick for my B4 is?

I have not used that charger but the specs look right - it will charge LiPo at up to 5A and handles 2 lipo cells.

Proper LiPo chargers use a method called CC/CV. It applies a Constant Current to charge the cells until they reach a certain voltage (4.2V per cell). Then when that voltage is reached a variable current is applied to maintain a Constant Voltage and stopping overcharging.

I have no idea what is the favoured LiPo stick pack right now. This market is moving very fast. The good news is that I don't think anyone has anything bad to say about any of the many hard-case packs on the market now, although try and test in the chassis before buying as the fit is not always 100% right on every car.

i've been using one of these chargers without a balancer (coming soon), and have had no problems at all, the amps rate drops off as the pack is nearly charged, and they peak at 8.4v.
so the answer to your question is.. yes these chargers are capable of charging without a balancer, but you'll probably find most people would recomend using a balancer aswel.

as for stick packs for your b4, i currently use core and trakpower packs, both priced under £50 or there's yeah racing packs @ £29 which seem good value
