AE FT VTS Sipper Conversion on a DEX210?
I'm always glazing the good AE slipper pads when I run on carpet?
Has any one rigged up the AE VTS slipper on a 210 yet? http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...Conversion-Set |
Maybe Avid will get on making one?? If I run on really high bite carpet I fight with my slipper all day!

I'm thinking of trying the AE HT pads before going to a triple disc set up
|
I run the HT pads on a mix of carpet, astro, rubber matt, painted wood and floor boards. The pads hold up fine to the torment of the different surfaces and have been installed now for a good 2 months without issue. Go HT !

Im up for this as well on my 210, I use it on my lazer ZXR and is superb but will be a bit of a job to do. Maybe a good idea if whoever does design it to make the layshaft thicker in the area where the collar is inside the gearbox. I would be up for buying that.

I just jun the HT AE Pads, if I fancy a change I may look at the Vented disks which I used on my X6.
|
Actually thinking about it all that is needed is a fractionally longer screw and a slightly wider gear cover and its done. Anyone have any ideas on how to source a screw pretty much identical to the original but fractionally longer? Has to be of the same material.
|
I run the vented disks and AE pads. If I run on low bite carpet or dirt its fine. But if I run on really high bite carpet it will be okay for a few packs, then start to glaze! Then I'll be messing with it all day.
Here's a video of the high bite carpet we have in Canada. There's also video's on my page that I run on carpet like the Euro series and my slipper is fine there! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwCMp...y6fANg&index=3 I think it comes down to running on high bite or low bite |
have you tried running no gear cover? maybe airflow is all it will take
|
Guys look up Mantis Worx on RC Tech. He has a website also RCShox.com I believe. He makes some kind of special Gator disc. Might be worth looking into.....
|
I have had the same set of TD pads in my car for 8 months and NEVER had to change them
If you set it up right the pads will not glaze |
I never run a gear cover. Thank for the info Bman
As for setting it right, like I said if I'm not on really high bite carpet its fine. Only glazes when I'm on REALLY high bite carpet. I've set slippers for over a decade so no worries there. |
Has anyone tried the garodisc?
http://www.rcshox.com/durango-garodisc/ Came across these for my team c car. |

hi there
is the vts slipper clutch a direct fit to the dex210, if you run the tresrey shaftto run AE spur gears? thank you |
Isn't running slipper cover a must at big events? Here you have to have them if your shell doesn't fully cover the spur, for the finger safety of marshalls
|
Yep. Totally illegal to run without spur cover or a shell that completely covers the spur at all Brca, efra and ifmar sanctioned events. Not sure about roar but I would be very surprised if they allow it. As stated below, marshal safety!!

AE slipper pads will help, the stock ones are no good. To set it I push the car back well its on the track and give it gas. What you want is to listen for for it slipping. How I like mine is the point where the front wheels dont lift the up when you give it gas. They may lift up just alittle I've also seen U.S pros hold there wing and give it gas. You want it to just lift the front wheels with out it making a slipping noise. Its hard to write it down I'm best to record it and put it on youtube |
a quick update on the HT pads. Don't bother if you run the RW spur, you need to cut out most of the center for them to fit, get the regular AE ones. I never checked with the stock spur though. I'll be running them Wednesday.
