where to buy black fiberglass sheet
 

I'm after some sheet 2.5 mm thick to make a chassis out of if anyone knows where to get it for reasonable money

Carbon fibre can be had from http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/ or try DMS or ebay. any help

my dad makes fiberglass roofs for motor homes so we might have some offcuts, PM me with size and i will get back to you :)

I suspect you find it hard to find black fibreglass, put standard fibreglass sheet can be had from Leeds Model Shop

Fibre lyte do a sheet called csc
Carbon silica compound
It's cheaper than carbon but looks the same as has pure carbon twill top and bottom with glass in the middle

You can dye the normal greenish-looking fibreglass with clothing dye, works well

Alernatively as Rebelrc said that CSC stuff Fibrelyte do is good - i've had several pieces made up in that which has worked well

I made myself a chassis out of carbon / fibreglass composite purchased through eBay.

2mm thick. Real, shiny carbon fibre on one side and fibreglass on the other.

Bargain at £12 for an A4 sheet of the stuff.

Paste this product number into eBay and you'll find it ....

+1 John and Martin at Fibre-lyte are both really helpful chaps.
I've used them in the past for various bits and bobs and never been any less than chuffed with what I've bought.

Alternatively why not lay your own stuff up? Cloth is cheap on flea-bay, epoxy resin from West Systems and you're off. Just lay it up on a waxed mirror or piece of flat glass.

I did a boat dashboard last year in this method as I couldn't justify the cost of buying it in sheet due to the length I needed.

How easy is it to get a good finish on both sides?

My main worry with alternative sources like this one is flatness. A slightly warped plate might be fine for applications where it is forced in shape , but for rc cars you want it as flat as possible in free state
