Tresrey steering upgrade !!
 

Hi there
Has anyone else had problems installing the Tresrey hop up steering arms ?
The kit one has a scooped left arm to clear the servo horn , but the Tresrey version has no scooped arm !!
The servo horn I use is a fastrax alu horn , fitted to a savox servo
Please see pic & help !!

is the fastrax horn any longer that the kit standard?
if so then try going back to kit

I have the exotek alloy steering rack and its the same shape as the kit with the scoop

The splined output on some savox servos is slightly further aside than others so might be causing the issue.

I've tried the kit plastic one too and it's the same length as the fastrax one , I originally modified the fastrax one anyway to make it the same size ( it did have 2 holes for the ball stud , now only has one ! )
The problem as I see it is the tresrey ones are the same as each other, both have the threaded hole to receive the ball stud from the servo turnbuckle , where in fact only one needs to have it !
I'm quite annoyed really as this upgrade was £20 with postage !
Think I'll send it back !

Yes I thought that a possibility too , I've just checked mb models & JE models sites and both picture them as a pair being identical !
Think it must be the offset of my servo, oh well , hopefully I can send them back to MB models or I'll try and sell/swap at my club !

I've fitted the Tresrey steering upgrade without any issues using a Savox 1258 servo with Durango standard servo horn.

It is very tight but there is enough clearance. Here as some pics

Might seem a daft idea but have you thought about reaming the holes on the servo casing slightly so you can raise the servo up a mm or 2 ? This would then offer the clearence perhaps. I don;t have the arms so this is a guess but worth looking at as im not sure they will refund the cost due to the servo horn being used etc.

I fitted this upgrade at the weekend also with a Savox servo and it went in fine... It seems like the only thing you have different to me is the servo arm so I guess that must be the issue. I (like the previous post with photos) am using the standard arm that comes in the kit and it's close but there is a gap.

I've had a look at the pictures and it looks like the issue is the servo arm that your using.
If you have a look at the pics the actual arm part of your servo attachment starts a lot further down than what the kit one does due to it being a lot chunkier.

The kit arm is a lot slimmer and starts higher up than that fastrax one
I'd recommend using the Kit arm for your servo

I'd recommend putting a thin washer between the nyloc nut and the steering link there mate...the carbon can wear and also hitch up on the nuts losening them ;)

Offtopic but how much are these steering arms? Look awesome :)

Thanks guys for all your help , think I'll give them another go with the std kit servo arm , never been a fan of plastic servo arms though but I'll give it a whirl !!
If I'm still not happy , I might have a buyer !!

Just wanted to say I finally got it sorted !

I tried the kit servo arm and it was worse , so I finally decided to adjust the fastrax arm !
I drilled and threaded a new hole above the existing one in the arm,
Then dremeled the end of the arm to make it shorter & give a bit more clearance
Shortened the link between the servo arm and the Tresrey arm and now all is good !
See pic ( don't know why it keeps rotating it sorry !! )

Looks tidy. Just be sure the ball on the servo arm is at the same hieght frmo the sterring arms (or length from the servo centre) or else you will end up with a slightly different steering speed/steering curve.

Yes will do , it seems to be pretty level , might need to put a washer under the ball stud on the right arm though , what do you think ?

Doesnt look to be to much out from stock so should be ok. Looking neat and tidy now. :woot:

Photobucket I found rotes the pictures as well, even if i rotate them back using their own software whatever site i post them on they still end up sideways..grrrr.
